KAR related - Washington State fires coach
Rolo out as coach at Wash St for refusing to comply with vaccine mandate. He tried to get a religious exemption and was denied.
I'm sure there will be legal proceedings, but if he's unsuccessful he's out the remaining $3.6MM on his contract, and I'm guessing no school is going to look to hire him any time soon. The discussion of whether or not Washington should legally be able to do this and whether or not Rolo should've complied are best suited for the sand box, no need to discuss here.
Figured it was worth updating given we discussed this before our game with Washington State and whether or not it would be a distraction for their team. The mandate was announced in August before our game and employees had until today to comply, get an exemption or lose their job.
Also somewhat relevant to the MWC as last time Washington State had a vacancy they grabbed a MWC coach. Perhaps they will again.

Dang....and just as they were playing well with the "other" Coogs upcoming. I imagine this will be to the blue Coogs advantage now.

No, they'll win one for the Gipper.
I know my next comment is sandbox worthy, but...nevermind, I won't go there.

Total speculation I think at this point but I read on Twitter (like I said speculation at this point) the players might sit out this next game.

Well, sounds like Rolo won’t be getting his 5G either way, now that he is both out of a job and refuses the vaccine.

Re: KAR related - Washington State fires coach
The interim is Jake Dickert the D coordinator who apparently isn’t afraid of a needle.
The Defense has been very good lately and his name will be in the pot. He’s a former Wyoming D coordinator.
Wazzou tends to favor offensive minded coaches
You’d have to think that Graham Harrell at USC fits that profile.

I get that some people are really opposed to getting vaccinated, but to give up a $3 mil plus year a job for it?

I can see Jay Hill, Craig Bohl, or Jeff Grimes being candidates. EWU is kicking tail this year too, I’m sure that isn’t going unnoticed.

I think Utah hires Jay Hill when Kyle W retires now that Scalley is out as “coach in waiting”.slcagg wrote: ↑October 18th, 2021, 8:32 pmDo pac12 schools hire fcs guys very often?Imakeitrain wrote: ↑October 18th, 2021, 8:31 pmI can see Jay Hill, Craig Bohl, or Jeff Grimes being candidates. None of those coaches will be at WSU next year.
They are all too small time and they are all defensive minded guys with the exception of Grimey.
Norvell could be a viable option though.
I think Brennan waited one year too many at sjsu
And no, Jay Hill will not be coaching the U anytime soon.

Wazzu isn't gonna go after an FCS coach, they're gonna go after a solid G5 coach and let the G5 school deal with coaching candidates from FCS

Who will UU hire when Whittingham retires? He’s getting to the age where he wanted to retire. I see him retiring in 2-3 years.Sl7vk wrote: ↑October 18th, 2021, 8:58 pmNo.slcagg wrote: ↑October 18th, 2021, 8:32 pmImakeitrain wrote: ↑October 18th, 2021, 8:31 pmI can see Jay Hill, Craig Bohl, or Jeff Grimes being candidates. I don’t think the Scalley thing will ever truly blow over. Look what happened to Gruden who did NOT use the N Word.
Hill is highly regarded at Utah. Hill removed his own name from the DC role when Sitake left for Oregon State. Maybe that was to save face, but I wouldn’t be quick to dismiss the idea.
Why wouldn’t Utah consider Hill?

Re: KAR related - Washington State fires coach
There’s 0 chance Utah will hire Jay Hill as head coach. They see themselves as being Utah, a big time p5 program. They’ll make a splash hire, not an fcs head coach.Imakeitrain wrote: ↑October 18th, 2021, 9:48 pmWho will UU hire when Whittingham retires? He’s getting to the age where he wanted to retire. Re: KAR related - Washington State fires coach
Matt Wells (jk- maybe if TT was more mediocre this year), Tom Herman, or Jim McElwain.
That’s the type of coach I see WSU attracted to. McElwain because they like nut cases as evidenced by last 2 coaches.

I loose track of these guys, am I thinking correct that our line got a lot better after Weber left? Seems like I was surprised he got the offer he did.

I don't know how good he is, but they've got a big sophomore named Roderick Tialavea from WVC, UT. I feel like there's a good chance we have a connection there.
Edit: Just checked and he's DJ's cousin. He needs to transfer here.

I think that Chun has had his guy picked out for a while now, (before the season). So I would be shocked if it were Blake Anderson. And we tsin wouldn't have been on Chuns radar until after the season started.Roy McAvoy wrote: ↑October 18th, 2021, 10:03 pmHere’s a list of candidates for WSU:

Could be Harrell, he had been an assistant st WSU but repeatedly turned down the job last time around because he did not like Pullman. But it is very possible that his circumstances have changed and he has less perceived options. I could see any other the other ones.
If Chuns previous hires are any indication it will be someone who does very well in a smaller school on the west coast. My bets are Deboer and Norvell.
