I re-watched the play

Post by SLB » October 22nd, 2021, 11:33 pm

The FG attempt should not have happen in the first place. The play clock said 15 seconds ran off before the snap when there was only 11 seconds left after the previous play.

Yeah, I though that very thing while at the stadium tonight. No idea why the clock was not running long before it actually started.

So the play clock starts as soon as the previous play is over. The game clock starts when the chains are set.

They got a first down. Don't the chains have to be set? But they for sure had a false start multiple times haha

What about substitutions? If they sub players in and out, doesn't that mean we should have been able to as well, which would have run the clock out?

You can see the game clock start as soon as the chains are set and the white hat makes the signal.

I am pretty sure they committed sub flags on top of that.

This is true. Without the spike there should have been no kick. Not sure who messed up, but I want to send them something nice this Christmas.

The chain gang was diddly daddling. They started the clock when they were set. It looked like CSU was getting in the way of that chain gang too.

This seconds delayed on the play clock before it even started. It is pretty clear that the clock should be 0 before the snap.

And the ref resetting the ball was moving at light speed. When we are trying to hurry up like that, it seems like the ref stands over the ball letting the other team get set up even though we didn't sub.

CSU subbed, which means the clock should have been running, with the official blocking CSU from snapping it, while we substituted. The clock should have run out before CSU had the chance to snap it if the officials were doing their job correctly.

At times like this play, the officials wanted the Rams to win but Rams said no.

I went back to the two prior first downs and stopwatched the time between player down and clock running.

From the time the player was down until the clock ran this is my measurements at these junctures -
at 39 seconds first down was made at the CS 43 - 12 seconds of real time passed before clock started
at 23 seconds first down was made at the US 39 - 8 seconds
at 12 seconds first down was made at the US 27 - 16 seconds

Look at the guy on the far left (CSU's left) of the CSU line as the ball was snapped. He was never set. So should have been a false start on CSU and a ten second run off. Feeling less and less bad about the win.

It was clearly not a legal play, and the snap should not have been. The refs and officials wanted Colorado State to win.

I think I counted almost 45 seconds that USU left on the clock on their last fg drive by not running the clock down to 1 or 2 so hhe aggies didn't help themselves either.

Csu must dread this game right now. 2 times in 4 years that something crazy has taken away a win.

I'll take it though

Why would you feel bad about winning?

You dont have to justify a win. Us having more points than they do justifies the win all on its own

At a minimum the guy was not set and it was a false start. Since it was a penalty with the clock running and CSU had no timeouts there would have been 10 second run off and the game is over. Terrible officiating.

I just rewatched it. It was 1:03 if they take it to 0 every time the clock was running.

That seems like a big deal.

It seems all CSU has for coaching special teams is a Quality Control guy, no coach. LOL

Which is dumb, special teams are so important and deserve to have a full time coach or coaches dedicated to them. The best special teams coach we had here was the guy that Wells hired, I can't remember his name but he was awesome.
