With Thompkins big day
And Sterns off day yesterday, I think Thompkins is now leading the nation in receiving yards. He is so very special.

But yet the mw mid season awards could only talk about two qbs (having great years but not record breaking years) as offensive player of the year.

I think after last night Haener should be eliminated from the conversation. IMO it’s now between Strong and Thompkins.

Re: With Thompkins big day
I must have seen non-updated stats. When I posted it showed he had something like 59 yards. That’s a great off-day!!

Right now he’s averaging 146 yds a game. If he averages 123 over four more games (three plus a bowl), he will be in the Top 10 all-time NCAA single season receiving record.
If he averages closer to his current average and we get to the MW Championship he could be in contention for the all time record. So yeah I definitely think he should be MW offensive player of the year.

Re: With Thompkins big day
When was the last time we had an amazing receiver? I'm used to us having great running backs, quarterbacks, and linebackers, but I don't remember a time when we had receivers that really stood out.

Exactly. Find me another player in the league having this kind of season relative to their position. I get it though as qbs are an easy position to give it to.apo wrote: ↑November 7th, 2021, 9:01 amRight now he’s averaging 146 yds a game.
