I saw that senior video, and I don't belief I saw Thompkins in it.

He's waiting to see which P5 school Anderson goes to next season and will transfer there with him to increase his nfl stock.

Probably depends on the draft evaluation he gets back from the NFL in the offseason. If he's graded in the top 4 rounds, he probably bolts.
Wondering, can guys participate in pro-day and still come back?

No because by the time pro-day rolls around the entry deadline for the draft has long passed.OrangeCountyAggie wrote: ↑November 23rd, 2021, 10:42 amProbably depends on the draft evaluation he gets back from the NFL in the offseason. If he's graded in the top 4 rounds, he probably bolts.

Coach said that they were only honoring seniors that had exhausted 100% of their eligibility at this time. He said that if other players choose to be done then they'll do something else for those players later.

Re: Is Thompkins coming back for next season?
DT is listed at 5'8" and 155 lbs on the Aggie site so he's probably smaller than that; draftscout.com lists him at 5'7" and 160 lbs. Even at his listed size, that's awfully small to be a 4th round or higher draft pick. Tyreek Hill is considered small at 5'10 and 185 but ran a 4.29 40; even then he was a 5th round pick. Draftscout.com lists Thompkins' typical 40 time at 4.42.OrangeCountyAggie wrote: ↑November 23rd, 2021, 10:42 amProbably depends on the draft evaluation he gets back from the NFL in the offseason. This. If he has a good shot at getting drafted, which he does, he should go.

That wouldn't have stopped the Raiders from drafting him.

He has children, including one with special needs. If he can get paid, he should leave and not risk injury or dramatic changes to the program, while staying one more year trying to move up one round.
Just imagine where Jordan Love's draft stock would have been if he stuck around for the 2020 dumpster fire.

Re: Is Thompkins coming back for next season?
Another example is Cardale Jones. Started like 3 games and got drafted because of it. Can you imagine how much he'd be kicking himself if he went back to Ohio State for another year instead of getting drafted? Got to get in while the market is hot.FloridaAggie13 wrote: ↑November 24th, 2021, 11:38 amHe has children, including one with special needs. I hope Thompkins gets drafted, has a lot of success, and makes a lot of money to provide a comfortable life for himself and his children. And I hope he wears a USU sweatshirt or ball cap every time he's on TV.

Re: Is Thompkins coming back for next season?
Finish the degree and jump. He either is or isn’t an nfl receiver.
Unless the extra year will give him an
MBA or an advanced degree, get on with life. I’m not even sure transferring to a P5 will impact his stock. The scouts have seen him, they’re aware of him and there is plenty of tape.
I’d love to see him in Aggie blue for more games, but I’d love to see him succeed more. There is no reason to stay in college longer than needed. Make that paper whether it’s in the league or whatever career he chooses.

This has always been an interesting take on college athletes. Get on with life? What a more exciting way to live life than to play one more season of college athletics. You have an entire lifetime to “ get on with life”, but only a few short years to enjoy an experience most people only dream of. I’ve always wondered why kids are in a rush to get on with life when they could be living the life now.
Just my two cents.

Re: Is Thompkins coming back for next season?
Maybe with NIL my opinion will change. But I come from the mission (entering mtc midsemester) and the 5 year track. I would be much further ahead had i never gone on a mission and took 4 years.
That is why in my opinion people should get into their career sooner.
Plus I do think Thompkins has a relatively short window to the league but the window is there. Being old is not a plus to that window

Right! At that age all the marketing tells you to look forward to the “future”. What they should tell you is to fully enjoy it while you can.

Re: Is Thompkins coming back for next season?
Enjoying life while young is great and should happen. But once you have kids, your priorities change. You're not living life for yourself anymore. The frivolity and enjoying the moment mentality must change. I had two kids when i graduated and didn't have the luxury of the summer road trips and skiing all winter that my classmates did. My summers were spent working 60 hour weeks and stockpiling money for school. My school years were spent completing my engineering degree and hoping to have a job when i finished. Graduate school wasnt even in the cards - i had to get out and make money to support a family. Maybe Thompkins feels the same pressure?

I would love to watch DT in an Aggie uniform for another season. But, I also want DT to do what's best for DT.
