This is an incredibly weird way to phrase this. He's reassessing his wife as his partner?

Marital issues, probably. Wants to focus on that. If that is the issue, I don't blame him.aggieguy13 wrote: ↑December 2nd, 2021, 3:48 pmThis is an incredibly weird way to phrase this. He's reassessing his wife as his partner?

Re: NAR: Bronco Mendenhall resigning after bowl game
Weird he’d publicly say he’s evaluating his wife’s viability as his partner. Probably meant they’re jointly evaluating his coaching and the next chapter of their lives.
I also doubt he’d say the next chapter of our life as if it one life if it was marital problems. He’d probably say next chapter of his life IMO.

The guy has always been an odd duck. Who knows what he's trying to say. He's a solid coach though.Intermeddler wrote: ↑December 2nd, 2021, 3:53 pmWeird he’d publicly say he’s evaluating his wife’s viability as his partner. I'll bet his wife had a few choice words about how he worded that tweet.

Re: NAR: Bronco Mendenhall resigning after bowl game
honestly that sounds more like a typo than an indication of any issues. Meant to say either "as well as my wife" or "as well as my partner" and ended up with both. But who cares, this is the internet, overanalyzing things and reading too much into things is more fun!

I think he probably meant to convey that his wife has been his partner in coaching for 30 years, and that the 2 of them are ready for a break and assessing what's next.aggieguy13 wrote: ↑December 2nd, 2021, 3:48 pmThis is an incredibly weird way to phrase this. Re: NAR: Bronco Mendenhall resigning after bowl game
I wonder if he's overrated as a coach honestly. But I didn't really pay attention to how he performed at Virginia.hickaggie wrote: ↑December 2nd, 2021, 3:55 pmThe guy has always been an odd duck. He probably means I’ve coached for 30 plus years worked myself to the bone and made a boat load of money. Now it’s time to cash out buy a house by the lake and live the good life.

Re: NAR: Bronco Mendenhall resigning after bowl game
He's stepping away from coaching because he has other priorities in life, like family. It's a little wordy, but it all makes sense. He's always talked about how he doesn't want to coach forever and that there is more to life than football. This all falls in line with what he's said. Congrats to him to making enough money to not have to worry about it anymore and enjoy extra time with his family.

Re: NAR: Bronco Mendenhall resigning after bowl game
I doubt there is an issue with his wife. Bronco's an odd duck, and has always had awkward speech patterns.
This is the time of year that the LDS church starts contacting potential new mission presidents for the next July 1. (I was standing right next to my cousin when he got the initial phone call; he went white as a sheet.). I wonder if that is a possibility. He's about the right age, financially independent...

I can't wait for Bronco to become a Mission President where all the "undecided" and non BYU committed football recruits get sent and end up flipping when they get home to BYU.LKGates wrote: ↑December 2nd, 2021, 5:41 pmI doubt there is an issue with his wife. Re: NAR: Bronco Mendenhall resigning after bowl game
I Think you're onto some reality here Rato. The coaching business is a tough grind with very, very little discretionary time. Think about it as coaches game plan, schedule practices, prepare the players for the next game,,,,or the next season, all the while knowing if you're just a position coach you could be a greeter at a big box store after your head coach gets fired.ratofallaggies wrote: ↑December 2nd, 2021, 4:47 pmHe's stepping away from coaching because he has other priorities in life, like family. These folks are coaches, not professional gypsies, so moving about, unless you are a career military man, is not so easy.
Coaching also brings the risk of having to move every few years, successful or not, and that has to be tough, especially with a younger family. It would be tough enough on most on any marriage, even making large coin.

Re: NAR: Bronco Mendenhall resigning after bowl game
He didn’t misspeak. McMurphy committed journalistic malpractice. What was said
“And I would love to say there's been this buildup and a long amount of epiphanies and thought, but clearly this week there was a sense of clarity to me that I needed to step back from college football and reassess, renew, reframe and reinvent, with my wife as a partner, our future and the next chapter of our lives.”
That was also in the context of becoming empty nesters and having spent a long time in football.
Best wishes to him.

I thought he was already a mission president for 7 years of the best missionaries the church has.thegreendalegelf wrote: ↑December 2nd, 2021, 5:45 pmI can't wait for Bronco to become a Mission President where all the "undecided" and non BYU committed football recruits get sent and end up flipping when they get home to BYU.LKGates wrote: ↑December 2nd, 2021, 5:41 pmI doubt there is an issue with his wife. Re: NAR: Bronco Mendenhall resigning after bowl game
Looks like the answer to this was in another thread. He’s leaving in January on a mission to Pocatello. Glad for him. I wonder if he’ll come back after his mission to play at USU ……. for his dad (after BA takes that P5 job). Where can I find the stir pot emoji?!!AGGIEinIOWA wrote:Anyone know how Breaker is doing and what he’s up to?

Good luck to Bronco, he is certainly unique, but is a good coach and seems like a good guy. He made a lot of money and can now live out the rest of his life in peace and do what he wants to do.
