Legas To DT Td audible
No one has discussed this but I swore in his post game interview that Legas referenced checking out of a run when he saw the formation ( i.e. what turned out to be DT one on one with a safety in the slot with no bracket help in position.)
Am I wrong? That is some balls for a freshman taking his first contested snap.

Re: Legas To DT Td audible
BA mentioned it during the halftime interview I believe which prompted the postgame question to Legas. Don’t remember what he said about it though.

Re: Legas To DT Td audible
Totally agree. This is the type of story that establishes a culture. You want to play at Utah state, you work hard you pay attention and when your chance comes you have the nerve to do what you've practiced and what you've been taught. I love what Cooper said about it too...I practiced all along like everybody else and I knew what to do when they gave that look.hickaggie wrote: ↑December 20th, 2021, 11:19 pmNo one has discussed this but I swore in his post game interview that Legas referenced checking out of a run when he saw the formation ( i.e. what turned out to be DT one on one with a safety in the slot with no bracket help in position.)

He was kind of like "it was the right call, what do you expect me to do"? Truly fantastic attitude.
The look they gave was they brought the safety way up into the box so he knew he had one on one for DT. Legendary play!

Re: Legas To DT Td audible
I believe Legas said this during his post game interview, too. He said something like even though they don't start, the backup quarterbacks practice, too. They try to prepare as much as the starter. He acted like it was no big deal to read the defense and audible out of the play call when he saw the defense.

Yep. BA mentioned it at halftime and in the full replay you can Legas audible and change the play.Intermeddler wrote: ↑December 20th, 2021, 11:41 pmBA mentioned it during the halftime interview I believe which prompted the postgame question to Legas. Don’t remember what he said about it though.

It's been discussed at length in multiple threads. Re: Legas To DT Td audible
I will say this about Coop. Our son played in the state semi-finals against Orem with Coop as a junior at the helm. By halftime of that game, I was texting my friends telling them Coop was the best high school QB I had ever seen play in person and if Matt Wells wasn't going to offer him, he was CRAZY. Matt never did offer him.

Re: Legas To DT Td audible
Who offered him? GA 2.0? Wells had checked out and wasn't making long-term decisions.aggies22 wrote: ↑December 21st, 2021, 9:52 amI will say this about Coop. If so, then GA 2.0 at least got us Cooper and Heninger and in a roundabout way, our new HC.

Yes. The day he was hired Gary made two phone calls. One to Hunter Hill (now at byu) and Cooper Legas. Matt had plenty of time to offer Coop following his junior year.FloridaAggie13 wrote: ↑December 21st, 2021, 10:49 amWho offered him? GA 2.0? Gary did NOT however lead us to end up with Blake. Hartwell wanted to hire Blake BEFORE he hired Gary.

Did Hartwell want to hire Blake after Wells but BEFORE Gary 2.0 and was over-ridden by the activist donor?

Re: Legas To DT Td audible
A counterpoint is that if we hired Blake right after Wells, he would have gone through the ordeal of his first wife dying in Logan, and had a hard time living in Logan after that, as opposed to Logan being the site of his fresh start.
