Moa enters the portal

Post by Bullnamed_gus » December 20th, 2022, 4:49 pm

Do we know why he’s entering the portal?

Seemed like he was poised to get some serious reps this upcoming year.

Is this a wanting to go down a level for more time? He was t all that heavily recruited out of high school.

He want to go play with his brother?

Another thing of Note, he wasn’t recruited by this staff. Maybe he wanted to play this year and with AJ/MJ/Max and a potential transfer coming in he wanted out?

Dang, that is a gut punch. He was specifically named by the coaching staff prior to the year as someone to keep an eye on and they were really high on his future. I too thought he was going to get a lot of reps next year and play a big role in the years after that. I wonder if someone thought he could do the same for their team and got in his ear?

Glad he’s leaving then. Peace out, Sione.

Will he get to play there? I think this is Noa 2.0.

Honestly, I know he had some good moments but I’ve mentioned several times that I am not sure he’s got enough, speed and athleticism to be good enough.

Hopefully he can go and be happy with his decision.

I assume he’s not playing in the bowl game?

Nope. Per team policy, once you hit the portal, you choose to no longer be a member of the team.

I believe byu has had a ton of attrition at linebacker. So not really surprised. BYU probably reached out at a bare minimum through his brother.

Something to note. if I remember correctly, BYU has the “Built Bar” NIL deal, where every walk on still get their school paid for.

So if he does go to BYU it might not even be on official scholarship.

I read the other day that scholarship plays may also receive $30k per year or something along those lines.

He probably should have spent more time preparing for Fresno than worrying about NIL. His team got wrecked. Sucks to lose Sione as he was going to get more playing time. Hope he made a solid decision for himself.
