Re: Lapuaho to the portal
So byu just said to him: “enter the portal and we will give you 25k”?

So what I'm hearing is byu-p has to pay for it. Like the losers they are, not good enough to get a date on their own. Or the ugly kid with the pork chop tied around his neck to even get the dog will play with him.

The University’s are allowed to pay these players?
I thought it was only the Boosters that could do this like the owners of Car Dealerships Restaurant chains and what have you.

There's so much $hit going on, it's hard to tell what's legal and what isn't anymore.

Re: Lapuaho to the portal
You are certainly entitled to your opinion my Aggie brother but it's tough to read something like this because Weylin is a really good kid. I don't like his decision at all and I think he's being taken advantage of by byu but he's still a good kid.

I wish every byu player the worst performance on the field. To where they can’t help but replace their fight song with Benny Hill music.
But I don’t wish anyone get hurt or bad things off the field.

If you transfer to Byu, that means you forfeit your Aggie card. I hope he never sees the field. I’m sorry but I cannot wish him well.

People build relationships with these kids and their families. Even if we accept as true that it’s a “character flaw” to transfer to the enemy- that doesn’t mean that they’re “bad people”.TrueAG wrote: ↑December 31st, 2022, 10:16 pmNah, you leave for BYU you have a major flaw in your character.

People need to respect that the players were poached and tricked into going wherever. We have all you need in reality with the TV games and going bowling every year and always in the running for MWC title game in recent years. We are getting more and more money, so the time of us becoming a bigger name is coming.

It was a joke. These things don't bother me. I am fully aware of our place in the Football pecking order. I just want fun hard working teams that compete in the MWC.Imakeitrain wrote: ↑December 31st, 2022, 11:04 pmPeople build relationships with these kids and their families. I love your optimism, SLB. I’m not sure we can keep up, but really I’m not sure if we should keep up. This is wild money being throw around. I’m all for the football players being taken care of, but this money could be much better spent elsewhere. Good for the Weylin though, hopefully he gets some money and loses every game ahead of him.SLB wrote: ↑January 1st, 2023, 11:41 amWe will keep up in time. Re: Lapuaho to the portal
I don't give a penny to athletic programs. Never have. If I donated to a university - which I don't currently - I would give to a specific project, entity or department. But never athletics. The amount of $$$ being thrown around now is absurd, in my opinion.flying_scotsman2.0 wrote: ↑January 1st, 2023, 12:53 pmI love your optimism, SLB. They almost shouldn’t even be associated with a university, how it’s all going, and they DEFINITELY should no longer be tax exempt at the higher levels.FloridaAggie13 wrote: ↑January 1st, 2023, 1:03 pmI don't give a penny to athletic programs. Read this article about what it took Georgia to get where they are at and tell me how we can ever get to that point let alone keep up with it.flying_scotsman2.0 wrote: ↑January 1st, 2023, 12:53 pmI love your optimism, SLB. Re: Lapuaho to the portal
First, we would need to get into a time machine and go back to the 1970's and recruit Herschel Walker after making sure we were in the SEC. This would separate us from the pack, establishing us as a serious program. Georgia in its current form didn't come out of nowhere - they've always been a solid team, a touch SEC program. Garrison Hearst, Hines Ward, Matt Stinchomb, Terrell Davis, Matthew Stafford and Champ Bailey among many.Slim80 wrote: ↑January 1st, 2023, 2:10 pmRead this article about what it took Georgia to get where they are at and tell me how we can ever get to that point let alone keep up with it.flying_scotsman2.0 wrote: ↑January 1st, 2023, 12:53 pmI love your optimism, SLB. With Steve Spurrier, Urban Meyer and then Nick Saban running through the SEC, Georgia couldn't break through the top until Kirby Smart was able to take them to the next level, using Saban's template.
Then, at the culmination of the past 40+ years, we might be able to afford a ridiculous $7m + each year on RECRUITING alone.

He effectively used us and then he goes to the stench.

Re: Lapuaho to the portal
My post was in response to SLB stating we will keep up in time. And my sentiment is that we will not. The true P5’s will continue to grow at ridiculous rates that we could only dream about. You’re correct that Georgia doesn’t have infinite roster spots, but UGA, Bama, Ohio State, Clemson, etc. have proven they only need 85 spots to stack the cupboard full of elite talent that competes year in and year out. They aren’t fluke teams like TCU or Cincinnati have once in 3 decades. They are legit every year and the divide is only growing.Imakeitrain wrote: ↑January 1st, 2023, 6:45 pmWe were never keeping up with Georgia.Slim80 wrote: ↑January 1st, 2023, 2:10 pmRead this article about what it took Georgia to get where they are at and tell me how we can ever get to that point let alone keep up with it.flying_scotsman2.0 wrote: ↑January 1st, 2023, 12:53 pmI love your optimism, SLB. Keep up with what? I dont speak for SLB but I doubt he meant "keep up with Georgia, Ohio State and Alabama" . I would have read that as "We will eventually be able to have enough NIL that we keep up with the trajectory that we are currently on as a upper-middle tier G5 program"...Slim80 wrote: ↑January 1st, 2023, 9:12 pmMy post was in response to SLB stating we will keep up in time. That's a fair point. I guess I'm just jaded by what is taking place at the very top of college football so any comparison I'm making right now is in regards to that. We have all you need in reality with the TV games and going bowling every year and always in the running for MWC title game in recent years. We are getting more and more money, so the time of us becoming a bigger name is coming.

But Georgia doesn’t have infinite roster spots.

Re: Lapuaho to the portal
I honestly see us sneaking into the P5 conference world some point soon. No question, we have grown a lot and win a lot and have real viewership as a program. At some point, the Big 12, Big Ten, and PAC 12 will get into a heated battle over the state of Utah. We are that 3rd program that keeps on winning in both football and basketball. San Diego State and us are the most serious winning programs in the MWC in money sports.

We the most reasonable of the mwc candidates for sure, just behind sdsu, unlv, Fresno, boise, csu, and air force.SLB wrote:I honestly see us sneaking into the P5 conference world some point soon. Re: Lapuaho to the portal
The ONLY plausible way I could even see it is if the Pac 12 is on its last leg, and Utah has left for the Big 10/12 and Pac needs another Utah market. (Like how we got into the MWC). It’ll be a watered down Pac 12 like how the MWC was when we joined. Basically the top Half of the MWC gets invited to the Pac 12 because they have no other choice. The TV deal will suck, so it will basically be a G5 anywaySLB wrote: ↑January 3rd, 2023, 9:15 pmI honestly see us sneaking into the P5 conference world some point soon. Re: Lapuaho to the portal
PAC 12 has way more money than MWC. It is very possible that Utah goes to the Big Ten making a western region for the Big Ten. Salt Lake City metro is at 1.3 million and growing at a rapid rate.Bullnamed_gus wrote: ↑January 3rd, 2023, 10:02 pmThe ONLY plausible way I could even see it is if the Pac 12 is on its last leg, and Utah has left for the Big 10/12 and Pac needs another Utah market.
