I love listening to the outright confusion of the announcers on this call.

Agreed, one of many favorites from that season. For some of you with a better memory, didn't the announcers at one point make a comment along the lines of "it was like he was just strolling down the street with a shopping cart"

Yes, that's probably my favorite line. Here's the full version of the hit including all commentary. Quality is lower, but it's still very enjoyable to watch.

My favorite, too. I worked with his mother and I brought this play to her attention just after it happened. She said that Jake’s post-game thoughts on the play were, “My mom’s gonna kill me!”

The reason for the penalty was because Doughty didn't lay the guy down on a bed of pillows

The clock operator got bailed out by the kicker missing. If he makes that, CSU would have won because of the clock operator. I hope the clock operator doesn’t mess up like that again.

I was at this game. It was at old Hughes Stadium. Not a ton of people there but I am not sure I have ever heard the air sucked out of a stadium faster. I will always remember the sound the crowd made on that hit.

Did the ref ever signal to start the clock after the ball was set? The video does not show the ref early on, but does show the clock starting once the ref signals it later. Was that the second time he signaled it? And if so, shouldn't he have watched the clock to make sure it started on his first signal?

One thing less talked about was when a Jalen Davis interception was broken up by the back judge, and it was too bad the officials couldn't call pass interference on themselves!

Or when they ruled that Michael Smith fumbled the football and it surprised the guy that picked it up for CSU because everyone in the stadium thought he was down.

I was at this game and went nuts when they called the TD back. I had been talking back-and-forth with some CSU fans (I was in their stadium, in their section, and it was all friendly, but the game had gone back and forth a few times by that point - and I'm loud). After the TD, they went nuts and started celebrating and gloating (as they should). The refs called it back, and then I went up and down the stairs dancing and yelling "Go Aggies!" CSU fans were pissed and confused, and I was elated (and somewhat confused, as I once knew that we had lost).

I have a death wish sometimes. I can't help it.

Also, easily the coldest game I've ever been to, and I'll never go back for a below-freezing Aggie game. It was 98% miserable, 1% confusion, and 1% pure joy!

I think that was the only signal. I was on the 25 with it playing out in front of me, going nuts screaming "start the clock start the clock" if he'd have made it I may have lost it completely.

Didn’t photographic evidence later reveal that he was down?

Yes, a picture was posted on Cache Valley Dailey with him down on the ground holding the ball.

The problem was the poor camera feed the replay booth had. With even the feed FS1 and CBS Sports has, we probably get the call.

There were USU fans who rage quit after the CSU touchdown and didn't know that we ended up winning the game.

I was guilty of rage quitting. I was watching at home and two seconds after they caught that pass I turned the tv off in disgust. A few minutes later I was in another part of my house and turned the radio on to listen to the postgame. Scotty was talking about what a crazy win it was and I was extremely confused.
