Booing the guys who hit our punter
I have to admit that I didn't like us booing the CSU guys basically accusing them to trying to hurt him.
The bottom line is that kids might try to get away with hitting other players dirty, but given the nature of how devastating it is to your team to get a roughing the punter penalty and first down, kids are going to try to avoid hitting a punter.

Either way, I'm just glad those CSU guys weren't wearing USC uniforms entitling them to hit our guy for a mere 5 yard penalty.

It’s a major penalty for a reason. It is a reckless and dangerous play. It is deserving of the boos.

Do we know Kotsanlee broke his leg? Maybe he can get medical redshirt? At least he one punt by backup was good, inches away from being downed inside the one.

Kotsanlee being carted off and smiling pumping up the crowd and the team after taking a hit like that reminded me of a Foster's beer commercial

Re: Booing the guys who hit our punter
IMHO, Hitting a punter should be treated the same as targeting. 15 yard penalty and the player who hit the punter should be ejected. It is just to dangerous as we can see from what happened tonight.

Horrible take. Potentially ending a defenseless players career deserves worse than boo’s from the crowd.

Re: Booing the guys who hit our punter
I booed as long as loud as I could, even yelled to go stick it in CSU’s face. Only wish I could have booed more. I feel sick for Stephen, just sick. Was glad to see our team knelt down and prayed for him. So impressed with him the way he pumped up the crowd what a Man!

Re: Booing the guys who hit our punter
And not just hit college career. I'm sure Kotstanlee was hoping for some FA tryouts at the next level. He doesn't have the biggest leg, but it only 7 yards shorter per kick than the current NCAA leader and has unique delivery and had been good at inside the 20.
Recovery from a tib-fib fracture could put him out of the window for the current NFL FA tryout season.

Re: Booing the guys who hit our punter
Let them boo. Everyone in the stadium knows you don’t hit the punter, unless he’s running the ball. It’s unsportsmanlike and as a previous poster mentioned, should be treated similarly to targeting.

Seven yards per kick is a lot. There's 34 other punters between them.jpswensen wrote:And not just hit college career. I'm sure Kotstanlee was hoping for some FA tryouts at the next level. I'm mad that the boos weren't louder. It was dirty and disgusting, and Colorado State has a knack for that kind of thing. No place for that garbage.

Re: Booing the guys who hit our punter
It was a bull$hit lazy careless technique by him. He earned the boos. Even though he didn't mean to cause a injury. Still careless on his part. Which cause someone's season to over.
Re: Booing the guys who hit our punter
It was a stupid play, but it wasn’t dirty. It’s football, it’s dangerous. It ended all hope for CSU.

Re: Booing the guys who hit our punter
Those 7 yards could also be accounted for in how many times he has had to punt backed up to the goal line or dropping a 40 yard punt at the 5 yard line. I wish someone tracked kicker stats better to make something like a QBR for punters.QuackAttackAggie wrote: ↑October 7th, 2023, 11:02 pmSeven yards per kick is a lot. It was a reckless play and I have no problem with booing him. What ticked me off were all of the jackwings on CSU just standing there not clapping when they carted him off.

I disagree that was a dirty play. He went nowhere near where the ball was supposed to be kicked straight at Stephens leg…dirty as anything Weston Steelhammer did…another dirty cheap shot douche bag.

I booked as loud as I could. It is a very dangerous play which is why they have the 15 yard penalty.

You guys sound like byu fans, or worse Colorado Buffalo's fans...
It's horrible that he got injured, and it absolutely deserved that penalty. But it was no dirtier than most other personal foul calls, which happen in multiple times a game.
Football is a violent sport. Players get hurt.

Re: Booing the guys who hit our punter
Of course it is violent, but you literally can’t hit a punter. By any definition it was a dirty play that broke the kid’s leg. I don’t think the kid tried to hurt him, but it was dirty.LarryTheAggie wrote: ↑October 8th, 2023, 6:50 amYou guys sound like byu fans, or worse Colorado Buffalo's fans...

Re: Booing the guys who hit our punter
How dare we boo a player after doing an illegal play that ended our kickers season and possibly career! The real victim here is that poor player who got boo'd. I mean, he can still play football, but is he even gonna want to with the immense shame WE caused him? Break my leg any day, but please, do not send me through the personal hell of being boo'd!!!!
Sorry, there I go again acting like a BYU fan again

Re: Booing the guys who hit our punter
Booing was an instant emotional reaction from the crowd after watching one of our best players get his leg snapped. Yes it happens but it's not a common occurrence. Did I boo? No. Did I care about the others booing at the moment? No. Fans are emotional. The fact that so many were compelled to boo at that point shows that our fan base is very supportive of the team.
