Woah, we are the dark horse to win the MWC
Fresno State is without their quarterback then we play the bottom half of the conference.
After the Fresno State game
1-5 San Jose State
2-4 San Diego State
0-5 Nevada
3-3 Boise State (they have yet to play Fresno State, Wyoming, Air Force, us on the road, and Colorado State on the road)
2-3 New Mexico

Nobody is touching AFA and Peasley just somehow wins at Wyoming. The aggies would need a lot of help.

What do you mean we are the darkhorse, I thought we were dominant and king of the conference. I'm confused how we are kings and darkhorses at the same time.SLB wrote: ↑October 7th, 2023, 10:02 pmFresno State is without their quarterback then we play the bottom half of the conference.

I'd love to believe but our 1st qtr woes and defense struggles will keep us out of contention. I just hope we beat Boise and get that monkey off our backs

Re: Woah, we are the dark horse to win the MWC
If we are, we’re an extremely dark horse. It’s a down year for most of the teams we play, but it seems like WYO and AF are very much in the drivers seat. Yet somehow the years we’ve made it Boise and AF have lost to let us in. As long as we JFW we have a good shot.

Re: Woah, we are the dark horse to win the MWC
It’s not even worth thinking about at this point. We need to win games.
It’s true that our losses collectively have 1 loss.
However until today none of the teams we beat had a win over an FBS opponent.

Re: Woah, we are the dark horse to win the MWC
Even if we win out, it is EXTREMELY unlikely that we win the MWC. Air Force would need to lose two games, which isn't happening. And Wyoming would likely need two losses as well.

As I said, we are the dark horse.

I guess we're technically a dark horse, in the same way that I'm a dark horse to date Taylor Swift.

I don't think that you understand college football and where teams are in standings are at. I did not say likely, but we have a legit outside chance of getting that MWC title due to our unique schedule.shoresy wrote: ↑October 7th, 2023, 11:21 pmLOLOLOL my point exactly

Re: Woah, we are the dark horse to win the MWC
By SLBs logic, every team but Air Force is a dark horse to win. To early in the season, obviously every team still has shot. Silly statement to make.
Didn't someone say we would beat AF by 50?

Re: Woah, we are the dark horse to win the MWC
After watching Air Force play I see them running the table in the MW. Wyoming has grit but Air Force looked great. Every team has a bad day out every once in a while so you never know.
Considering what the portal did to us I'm glad we have the coach we have. It is definitely showing and we have beat my expectations this year at least.

Re: Woah, we are the dark horse to win the MWC
I pegged us at 5-7. Still lots of football to be played and a bowl game would exceed my expectations but we are NOT winning the MW this year. We crapped that away in the first 10 minutes of our conference opener.

Re: Woah, we are the dark horse to win the MWC
Part of the problem with this comparison is that you’re likely to never even meet Taylor Swift whereas our football is already competing in the MWC.shoresy wrote: ↑October 7th, 2023, 11:21 pmLOLOLOL my point exactly

Exactly. And yet, the odds of those things happening is roughly the same.aggiesdotcom wrote:Part of the problem with this comparison is that you’re likely to never even meet Taylor Swift whereas our football is already competing in the MWC.shoresy wrote: ↑October 7th, 2023, 11:21 pmLOLOLOL my point exactly

Re: Woah, we are the dark horse to win the MWC
Ron McBride was saying that he thinks Air Force is the most complete football team he has watched this season. He thinks they will win the MW, and he wants to see them in the playoff. I felt pretty nervous about our conference play when we got destroyed by Air Force, but since then Air Force has beaten all of their other opponents by more than they beat us by.
I think we could still be one of the top 4 teams in the MW this season. That’s a pretty good spot to be, but if we go to the championship it will be against Air Force, and it will be because they are our only loss. That’s a pretty tough thing to do, but I Believe.

Did we get destroyed by Air Force? We got creamed for one quarter (story of our life) and then we took it to them from there.

Re: Woah, we are the dark horse to win the MWC
Not possible. When divisions were eliminated, and we didn’t have Wyoming on our schedule and San Diego State was, the experts on this board pointed out that the MWC was out to screw us over by creating the toughest path to the championship game. Anyone saying Wyoming is good just doesn’t understand the wisdom from this board that is available to all.

What is the tie breaker if we tied with Wyoming for second? Since we don’t play then head to head.
I think Air Force is about a lock. The second team is wide open.

This.
We are a dark house candidate to get a bowl game. We’ve got a lot to improve on to consider anything else.
Presumptuous and ill-informed.

I think the "what if" here involves two teams with their only loss to Air Force. So what's the second level tie breaker?QuackAttackAggie wrote: ↑October 8th, 2023, 12:43 pmIt'll be record against the best team then going down in orderBigBlueDart wrote:This is what I'm wondering, too.jazzdog56466 wrote: ↑October 8th, 2023, 11:26 amWhat is the tie breaker if we tied with Wyoming for second? Re: Woah, we are the dark horse to win the MWC
After winning yesterday, I think it is more likely than not that we make a bowl game. Had we lost yesterday, we’d be a dark horse. Our most likely final records are the following, in the following order of likelihood: 6-6, 5-7, and 7-5. I would be shocked if we finished with a record other than those listed.
But yeah, I’m not ready to call us a dark horse title contender.

To be fair to Samuel Leonard Bennett, dark horse does mean longshot. USU right now is a team I'd classify as a longshot to win the championship, but does have a chance unlike say a San Jose State or New Mexico.

He has very big swings from high to low to high. He said we were going to beat Air Force by 50 and then wanted the coach fired, now is making posts like this. If we lose to Fresno, the pendulum will swing back.
