Jordan Love

Post by brownjeans » November 19th, 2023, 1:22 pm

Having a good game so far today.
24/32 (75%) for 258 and 1 TD

Just took the lead. If he can get some help, maybe they'll even win today.

Was it though?
Incomplete pass, run, completion to convert the third down.
Then an overthrow, a dart that was dropped, and a grounding call (sack) on third and 10. Had the WR caught the drop, it would have been a first down and there likely wouldn't have been a third and long situation for the grounding. In all, there was really one missed throw and then he corrected it with the throw that was dropped. Between Love being a first-year starter and all the first- and second-year players surrounding Love, this offense makes too many mistakes and sometimes it's just too much. Love has had to try to overcome a lot of third and long situations this year. Some from his mistakes, but others because of drops and penalties at bad times that put him in difficult situations.

Jordan Love is officially the best QB in the league and frankly it’s not really close.

That Green Bay O-line is atrocious. The running threat is nil without Aaron and the Chargers were just pinning them back. Not to mention the dropped balls and the missed kicks. Love was really impressive today given what he was dealing with and constantly being behind the sticks because of missed blocks and penalties.

As a Chargers fans that game hurts. Those who want BA fired have nothing on the Chargers fans who want Staley fired. Giving up recordsetting days for the opposing teams offense three weeks in a row, and the offense getting a lead only to watch the defense let the other team March down the field to score and win. Then Coach Staley, who calls the plays on the defense, says everything is good and isn't going to change. That is his nail in the coffin. The players realize there is a problem, the fans realize there is a problem but the coach thinks things are going great. This is way too talented a team to lose the games in the way they are losing and it all comes back to the one consistent, an incompetent head coach.

The chargers have always had talent. Brees, Rivers, Herbert. It’s quite baffling how it has never come together.

It goes back even further to Fouts, Winslow, Wes Chandler and Charlie Joiner under "Air Coryell" and never making it to the SB.

Add in Chuck Muncie as running back who was decent. Problem back then was that they didn't have a defense. Now they are the 2nd highest payroll on defense 2nd worst defense. Your coach is calling the defensive plays. Seems like it is a coach problem.

Ownership is key in pro sports. The best owners are the ones with deep pockets who make good hires and let those who are hired do their job. The Spanos family have owned the Chargers since the 80s. Spanos doesn't have super deep pockets, and he failed to get support for a stadium in San Diego so he moved the team.
He's not the worst owner, but he's not a good owner either.

Don't forget James Brooks out of the backfield. People forget that Air Coryell was side by side with Bill Walsh in introducing the "West Coast Offense" to the NFL.

Watching the Lions lose on Thanksgiving is one of many great American traditions.

That bodes well for Love today.

Lions playing like garbage today. Good for Jordan. Easy for him when his OL doesn’t get called for holding. Not surprising though, refs have ALWAYS been out to help Green Bay.

JLove is so easy to cheer for. Has to be one of the toughest, most mature leaders in the nfl. He doesn’t point fingers. Hen gets to work and his team appears to get behind him.

Truly excited to see Watson, Doubs, Reed, Wicks, Musgrave et al develop as a team.

With two victories in a row, the 5-6 Packers are just one game out of playoff position. If they can beat the Chiefs at home next week, they could easily be 9-6 a few weeks later.

On the bright side for the lions they weren’t the worst performers on that broadcast. Halftime show was all
