Our best games on offense were the ones that involved Motes and Meachum not starting. Seniority system instead of who was better can't continue with the OL

We always need more talent. However, talent isn't necessary to line up correctly, play the proper gap and technique, or play the right coverage. I am happy Blake is letting him go. Excited to see who the DC will be. Even with a mediocre defense this year we would have won 2ish more games. With basically the whole offense coming back I have some hope we can lineup an average defense next year and have a solid year.

I watched the season with Motes and Meachum as the every-down guys look like holograms, and they played because of seniority and whatever. Even a bad DC would make this team immediately better because the defense was at historical levels in a bad way.

I hate to see people lose their jobs, but Is it being fired if you’re on a one year contract that is expiring? He is essentially getting a two month severance.

Was he really only on a 1 year contract? Man... The desperation on both sides of the fence when he was hired is crazy.
Hopefully the firing means the new DC is all but locked up already.

The guy seems to be the most connected to New Mexico and New Mexico State, being connected to their changes in assistant coaches. Maybe he knows about Cauthen being gone cause he also knows Dreiling, Gonzales or Rocky Long is the guy likely to replace him, but was told he could ONLY post the part about Cauthen being gone and NOT the part about it being Dreiling, Gonzales or Rocky Long.

Good luck to Joe and his family, I hope he lands on his feet. Scoring defense was ranked 120th and total defense was ranked 117th. I’m sure he knew he was on the hot seat. I feel like the defense has plenty of talent, just need the right coach and scheme. I just want a middle of the road defense and the Ags will be able to have a chance to win next year. If we had a serviceable defense this year it would have been a 8-9 win season.

It’s so early and things can change so quickly, but so far this offseason has been a W. Our top players have made announcements to stay, finally got our 2024 schedule finalized with Utah at home next year, and now Cauthen gone.
