Re: Poukesi Vakauta
What am I supposed to say? Cry myself to sleep for losing a rotation interior DLineman from a terrible DLine group last year? Him transferring won’t impact our team all that much, if at all. For all we know the coaching staff said he wasn’t going to play and to look for a new home.

I definitely know who this is and am proportionally upset by it.

Re: Poukesi Vakauta
I'm not mad at him for leaving, whether it be for money, playing time or for the clout of playing at a bigger program. These are all likely things I would've done too as a player in this era. I'm mad because the sport I care most about is fundamentally changing into something that to me is less exciting and desirable and there's nothing I can do to make it go back to the way it was. That's not to say it was perfect, but it's quickly spiraling into something indistinguishable with the NFL.

Re: Poukesi Vakauta
If a three year rotation/starter decided to hit the transfer portal after we signed a bunch of players to his position, then I feel pretty good about the situation and wish him nothing but the best.

Does your response need to be at either end of the extremes?Bullnamed_gus wrote: ↑March 1st, 2024, 12:53 pmWhat am I supposed to say? Vakauta like Hale was playing based on seniority. We have a new DC that is going to try to win unlike what we had before.

Re: Poukesi Vakauta
Good enough for me. He did his best for 3 years..
Now he wants to go try another program / location / school / team.
Whether he is looking for a step up for more recognition or future prospects or a step down for more playing time, or just feels like another school will prepare him better for life, the reality is that this is the rules and the nature of College Football these days.
Why do we need to get all sad and hurt about it? I say thank you for your contributions to Aggie Football and Good Luck!
God Bless him as he navigates and moves on with his life.

His post-game interview after that score should have earned him some sort of NIL deal with McDonalds.

Re: Poukesi Vakauta
So ... We've got a DL opening.
And there's a whole lotta unallocated talent out there.
Nice

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

Re: Poukesi Vakauta
I would argue when healthy (he wasn’t all of last year) he was probably one of our best D tackles. He can be be a beast when he’s healthy.

Re: Poukesi Vakauta
Hate to lose returners that have experience but Vakauta did have some injury issues. Still would have been nice to have him for depth. Timing of this one seem odd to anyone else?

Re: Poukesi Vakauta
I can't believe this! And after I saved his life?! But seriously, we were paddle boarding up at Porcupine reservoir a few years ago and some of the football players (and I'm guessing they were cheerleaders) were up there. They had borrowed like 5 life jackets for 7 people. They weren't wearing the life jackets, but had a chain where one jacket was between 2 people. Anyway, I saw Poukesi struggling a bit to get across coming back from cliff jumping so I went over and offered to tow him. He grabbed on to the back of the board and for the next 30 minutes (or so it felt like) I struggled to paddle this mountain of a man back to shore. The amount of resistance he added was crazy (that and the fact that I don't think he kicked his feet at all to help out). Good luck Kesi (unless you go to byu).
