It’s posted on Twitter now that it’s Paul Fitzgerald. So not Ike, Switzer, or Legas(for now)
Paul Fitzgerald it is.
Fitzgerald lost his starting spot, and he should have not been the starter last season. I was excited us getting him, but he overmatched last season.
Fitzgerald started every game last year. I think you are thinking of Enoka Migao.
The 2023 starters should have been Spires as edge with DT Mells, DT Mosley Jr., and Hale as a DE.
Fitzgerald had good moments, but he was done as a starter as soon as we got a new DC because he lacked consistent good plays.
I've sat through every second of spring ball that I have been outdoors. Paul has been the #1 guy the ENTIRE time.

He was offered by BYU out of HS, so it is very possible.
I personally don't want to have DL who can't stop the run.

Probably one of the RBs. They aren't all going to be happy with the amount of touches.

I'm confused. Did we not establish that it was Fitzgerald that was the surprise loss? Or did i misunderstand?

It is interesting that Paul would transfer when he played first string most of last year and from spring reports it sounds like he was first string as well. It certainly does not sound like it was going to be playing time thing he would want to transfer for. Maybe he is wanting more NIL, who knows.

He wants to give playing at a P4 a shot.

Is there any chance of Noa returning to the USA from his exile in Canada?

Mells hit the portal because of the seniority madness.
Last season, Mells was our best DT but had limited snaps.
And one of only a few who wouldn't get their asses pushed around like empty trash cans against every O-Line we faced...

...and we have Blake under contract through 2027.

After this 2024 season his buyout would be $3.5M. Let's just really hope this season isn't a flop. We can't afford to buy him out.

The spring transfer portal opens April 16 and closes April 30. Once a player is in the portal, they can complete their transfer at any time. A player only needs to enter the portal during those dates.

Honestly, BA should retire after the season. We should hire Chuckie as HC with a winning coaching staff, so it excites the NIL fans.

The balance of coaching XO, recruiting, and organizational management have been the pillars for head coaching.

The recruiting factor is now like 80% of that

Coaching, in the era of unlimited transfers and NIL conflicts is simply not a business I would choose to go into. These guys all have to be ready to pull their hair out.

As a fan of a G5 program, what am I supposed to get excited about? Every G5 kid that shows any promise as an under-classman an is gonna be hitting the portal and we won't see him back in a Utah State uniform, period.

It really is a joke. Players/Coaches plead for NIL money to go a school's collective. Now with unlimited transfer players are just transferring at will and taking whatever NIL money has been given. I don't mind donating some NIL money but want some continuity, i don't want a team that has 80% new faces every year. It really is becoming a joke.

It’s easy, you win the conference championship your first year then stop trying for the rest of your tenure. Some people will stop liking you but others will always defend you because you had one good season. You then collect checks until your contract expires because the team you coach for is too poor to afford a buyout.

I dm’d him too. He asked if I was the same Hoot who towed his car in high school and when I replied “no” he blocked me.
