Davon Booth to Transfer

Post by BasketballAgg » April 18th, 2024, 1:01 pm

I think the time for a new era is here. Blake Anderson is not the guy we want running our program in the new NIL era.

This is an NCAA problem not a Utah State problem. Other schools are going through the same thing, if not worse.

Blake is not in charge of NIL. That is the blue A collective. If we want players to stay then people need to pony up more funds. Even then we will never pay our good players what a lot of other collectives will pay them.

Blake isn’t the guy we want running our program regardless of nil lol.

This one doesn’t hurt too bad because of Faison and Briggs but if we lose one of them things could get ugly.

Hard to believe guys anymore who say they’re staying and 4 months later leave.

Yeah let’s go get a coach that will be here less than a year and take all the good players with him. Y’all need to realize the world has changed. This is happening everywhere. College sports is dead. ☠️ if it keeps up like this it won’t be long till I quit on it like I did the jazz. Faison is pretty awesome though. Could be my last season as a fan. This really could be it as it’s hard to be interested and support this crap. Why should I continue to support this? There is nothing saying I have to donate the money I do and this fan experience sucks.

I would rather be looking for new coaches every year because we are winning than going 6-7 and dealing with all the extras that seem to exist with this staff every year.

Yeah this is a bubble and it’s going to burst.

Eventually smaller fan bases will stop giving money to collectives and the only schools paying players will be high end P5s.

Fans are going to stop watching and focusing on Pro Sports instead.

That’s my case. I’ve completely lost interest in the usu football team. Basketball is teetering on life support for me. If we’re bad this year and lose good players it’ll probably be dead for me too.

No point in donating to a collective if there aren’t contracts involved.

Yes, it's happening everywhere. But it feels like there is enough "noise" around our program that something else is contributing to this. If it's all money, so be it. If players hate something about the coaches/program that is part of this, that needs to be fixed asap.

Especially when 4 months ago some of these guys said they were going to run it back and they were committed and then now change their minds. Obviously they can choose what they want but its hard to root for teams in this environment.

Another example of the collective giving money to a player to only stick around for spring ball. Hope everybody enjoyed watching him the last few months because that’s what your hard earned dollars payed for.

Utah poached him just like they did Fitzgerald.

If this is even close to true, we can't begin to compete.

People are coming with NIL excuses for BA. This is a BA problem. We have not been a winning team since 2021. At this point, we are trying to time BA and his buyout on when to hire the next coach.
When losing, recruits are more willing to leave.

Blake Anderson isn't the problem. The collective isn't the problem. Booth got poached. Fitzgerald got poached. We cannot keep up with the offers that are flowing in from P4 schools. This is an unsustainable model for MOST G5 schools, their donors, and their fan bases.

Everybody ragged on Matt Wells for having very similar results as Coach Anderson has had. The only coach that inexplicably gets a pass for poor results has been Gary Andersen.

Dead on. If anything, it's showing that Blake is finding diamonds in the rough. The problem is that G5 schools are now just feeder schools for the big boys.

Something needs to happen to put some structure to this madness.

Agreed. This double portal sucks. Most of these guys leaving did "run it back" posts in December. Little did we know, they meant "run it back for spring semester" lol. At least in basketball you only sweat the portal in April. If guys leave in December, so be it. Having them recommit, then leave after spring is crazy.
