Now that the Portal is Closed
From what I know, the portal officially closed yesterday. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
With that, here are my thoughts:
The Good:
- We kept both Royals and the rest of the receiving corps. (Huge Win)
- Ike stays!
- Potential upgrade at Qb for this year.
- O-line stayed intact.
- Faison came back!
The Bad:
- Losing McCae set our long term qb situation back
- Losing Booth sucked, but we still have two solid running backs.
- Losing Switz hurt, but with Max Alford and Shaun Dolac we should be fine.
- Losing Fitzgerald (our leading pass rusher according to stats recorded) is not good, but I'm excited for Marlin Dean.
- Losing Coop might not show on the score board, but we'll miss him in our program.
In the end, it could have been a lot worse, and the good heavily outweighs the bad.
We just need add another pass rusher, linebacker, and running back for depth. If we are able to do that, I think we have a shot to have a great season.

Re: Now that the Portal is Closed
Sounds like Nick Floyd might be that running back you are looking for.

Re: Now that the Portal is Closed
We are working on a couple of quarterbacks, a couple of linebackers, a couple of defensive linemen (DTs & DEs), and a couple of defensive backs (CBs & Safeties). Depending on what Tate Kjar does, we have at least 11 schollies to give.AggieUprising50 wrote: ↑May 2nd, 2024, 9:22 amFrom what I know, the portal officially closed yesterday. Re: Now that the Portal is Closed
I think we should probably just ready ourselves for the portal to never be closed. Supposedly it’s closed but yet we still keep losing players. It’s only a matter of time before players just sue the NCAA to leave whenever they want, and they will win.

Re: Now that the Portal is Closed
I don’t see anyway where we avoid mid season transfers especially for winter sports where the seasons cross semesters without having players unionize and CBAs. Because what is the limiting principle?QuackAttackAggie wrote: ↑May 2nd, 2024, 3:49 pmthey entered their names before the closureEngineeringAggie wrote: ↑May 2nd, 2024, 3:35 pmI think we should probably just ready ourselves for the portal to never be closed.
