who's 2nd place

Post by cache-aggie » March 9th, 2011, 1:43 pm

So obviously, we have the most fans that are, or will be here in Vegas for the tournament. Question is though, who is next in line for most fans this year?
Generally, you see a good number from Nevada - but they normally host the tournament ... and they suck this year.
NMSU usually travels comparatively well (compared to Hawaii or Fresno anyway) ... but they suck this year too.
Boise may bring some (seeing as they are the #2 seed) ... but they know we own them.
Idaho could be a dark horse ... but I don't recall seeing any fans in years past.
Hawaii ... why would anyone want to leave the island?
Fresno, San Jose ... are not even worth mentioning.

I understand there are a lot of transplanted Hawaiians who live in the Las Vegas metro area, but who knows if they'll appear. I would imagine NMSU's fan base would be the second largest. I was impressed with how many of them came out last year, and I'd imagine it'd probably be easier for them to get to Vegas than Reno.

Going to the games for most fans will be secondary. The 75 degree weather, casinos, booze, and entertainment will be enough to entice many fans for a little vacation.

i'd guess nevada has a fair number of alums in vegas and the flights from reno to vegas are (i think) pretty cheap. so, i'd guess nevada.

I would venture Nevada will be number two having the most alumni already in the area. I heard NMSU had sold their allotment so expect to see some raggies. And I know there's a decent amount of Hawaii fans in Vegas. I say there's you're second, third, and fourth. I'm really interested to see if Boise or Idaho fans will travel well.

As for the bottom? LaTech has one carpool on its way.

The Hawaii announcers said on the radio that it looked like about 500 people at the first game today with 300 of them being Hawaii fans...that's actually more than I thought that they'd bring.

Just got back from the Orleans, the only fans that were there were Hawaii fans. Some of them that live here and some on vacation. I actually sold my tickets to the games today and tomorrow to a Hawaii fan on vacation.
