Koby and Sam
Regardless of what you think of the team, the coaches, the program, whatever else we want to complain about on a given day, the seasons these 2 are having are what makes people irrationally supportive of Aggie basketball the past couple of years, even when there isn't too much to be excited about on the surface of a .500 season. They played damn near 40 minutes a night all year long and the way they are stepping up so far in the tournament really shows the types of players they are and will be going forward. Played through injuries, ups and downs of the season, lack of depth, but they busted their asses all year.
The whole team has. Say what you will about Duryea/co. but thats about 75% of the equation, and honestly is what has made this season still enjoyable to watch IMO despite the lack of too much success. Guys like Pearre, who is stepping up despite an injury marred Senior season where he rarely saw the floor, as a 4th year Aggie it's fun to watch him play this well when his USU career is on the line.
The AFA 2nd half meltdown and SJSU loss were probably more the result of an absolutely exhausting season for both these 2 Sophomores than anything. And with that all still being said, they just won 2 games on back to back nights in the MWCT including a 2nd win over a solid Boise team this year. Win or lose tomorrow, I'm gonna enjoy watching this backcourt, and team, play for as long as we get to.

Re: Koby and Sam
I loved listening to the post game interview with Sam and Koby. Towards the end, a reporter asked Koby if he heard the Wyoming and New Mexico fans that came in cheering for USU. Koby said he did. The reporter then asked him if he knew why they was cheering for USU. Koby was quick to say that they will be sorry for cheering for us come tonight. Love the confidence in that answer.

They have been the bright spots in a sea of darkness. The last two nights have been amazing.

Re: Koby and Sam
Of players who have as many or more 3PA, Sam has shot the highest % in the country. Probably the best shooting season in Aggie history after Jaycee's senior season.

I'm sure there is, but it's been a combination of bad recruiting + limited connections.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Dastrup kid at BYU transfer out

He worries more about his hair style, looking cool, and celebrating on the bench than he does about playing basketball.

Re: Koby and Sam
Koby has been disappointing all season long. I'll always support anyone wearing an Aggie uniform but the way he acts towards refs and pouts can really be off putting. It's also disgraceful he has more FGA per game than Merrill when he isn't close to as efficient.

Tough to be efficient in this offense with this roster.AggieMan5 wrote:Koby has been disappointing all season long. Re: Koby and Sam
Koby's strength is in penetrating and attacking the basket. He is not a great shooter and he forces too many threes. He needs to penetrate more. When he does he either makes the layup or goes to the line. It also opens up other players that he can dish to or he can kick it back out to Sam I Am. Outside of Sam and recently Pearre we don't have good outside shooters. If we had a good strong inside player that would help a ton. We would be tough to defend.
