Thoughts on Hartwell interview

Post by bpd » March 15th, 2018, 12:09 pm

He did with KVNU last night.
1. He is willing to talk to press
2. He reads the message board
3. He has talked to several people. Karl Malone- I’m guessing he called to talk Kerry Rupp. Mick Cronin- no idea who he is calling for. Doug Gottleib- probably called for his brother, Greg. I don’t think any of these will get an interview. I know many of you don’t like Gottleib, but he knows this is a good job. He has seen us play enough.

Is this interview archived anywhere that I can listen to it?

Thank you!

I come away from that interview thoroughly impressed with Hartwell. I think he has a very level head on his shoulders and is a smart thoughtful man.

My thoughts:

- I don't like being called a "fan site junkie"...I'm an overweight, middle aged virgin living in my parents' basement

- Hartwell is currently on the road interviewing candidates...someone check the flight logs to see where the Cache Valley Electric plane last landed

- I took his description of the calls to mean that Karl Malone and Doug Gottlieb were calling him to recommend their friends/relatives

- His priorities for a new coach, in no particular order, (1) proven recruiter, (2) player development, (3) ability to excite the players, Hurd, and the fan base

- Coach doesn't necessarily have to have "Utah" coaching experience.

Why is KVNU the place getting the interviews? Did the Zone do any?

I was unsure about Hartwell, but the firing and now listening to this interview, has me believing he's the right man for the job and we are going to get a good coach and not a repeat of what happened last time.

The real question is....where in the world is Hartwell? Wish we knew some locations so us junkies can speculate.

Can someone set up the webcam outside Hartwell’s office and bug his phone? I’d like to know who he’s interviewing.

Fully agree with the earlier sentiments about Mr. Hartwell from this interview. I'm so bleeping excited to see who ends up as our hire. I'd love to see the final list of candidates.
