Brito Has Lost His Shot

Post by Aggie75 » January 8th, 2020, 8:47 am

Brito can do a lot of things well, but his shooting is killing us. Over the past 11 games he's shooting 25% from the field and 19% from the 3 point line. He played well against St. Katherine's and San Jose, two mighty teams, but if you take them out of the mix he's shooting 17% from the field and 13.5% from the 3 point line. And it's not like he's not taking shots. He's taken 82 shots over that period and more than half were 3 pointers. Plus he's averaging over 29 minutes a game. If you leave out the anomaly of Eastern Oregon his rebounding is still good for guard and his assist to turnovers is acceptable at 1.5. But his shooting is a killer. He can't seem to be able to throw it into the ocean. He appears to have totally lost his confidence. I wish they would cut back on his minutes and give more to Bairstow. It may be his freshman year, but let it count for something.

Yes. WTH has happened to Brito's shot‽ Maybe it's a nagging injury, but if that's the case, stop shooting the three ball until you can actually make it. Shooting at those percentages is essentially a turnover.

It's the curse of the F-bomb he dropped on live TV after we beat LSU. He hasn't been the same since. I blame the FCC.

Brito has the yips for sure. It happened to Steve Sax to the point he couldn't throw a ball from his second base position to the first baseman. I hope he figures it out. He didn't secretly get married, did he?

Moving the 3 pt line back this year might have something to do with it. Just a thought

That could have something to do with it, but Brito specifically said he liked the line moving back because he was used to the deeper line from international play.
