Was this our biggest win in school history?

Beating a top 5 team
Winning the Conference Title to get an auto bid
Improve our seed to face a weaker team in the tournament

Yes. Winning a conference championship against a top 5 team is better than a 1st round win. We made the elite 8 in 1970. Maybe that run was bigger, but id take a conference title.

Have the Aggies ever beat a Top 5 team? I remember beating Nevada when they were Top 10, but I don't recall them being as highly ranked as SUDS.

Didn't we beat Utah back in the Majerus era when they were ranked 2nd? IIRC, it was the year after they went to the championship game in the NCAAs

In my lifetime yes. One because of the national ranking of the team and two because of the importance of the game. Win we're in, lose we likely stay home.

This was akin to beating the top 5 UNLV team of the old days with Larry Johnson and Stacey Augmon in the Big West Tournament.

It was that big of a win.
