That's actually where they were considering the small Target. They would have only used half the building, though.3rdGenAggie wrote: ↑October 26th, 2021, 10:32 am
I'm not in Logan anymore, but the good people of Logan deserve a Target. They should put one in the old Albertson's building on 4th N and Main.
But after they backed out, the real estate holding group that purchases property for In-N-Out bought that whole building, including the strip mall with Juniper Takeout. It'll bet interesting to see what happens. They may have to bulldoze the whole block to make room for In-N-Out's drive thru line.

I'm in serious financial trouble if In-n-Out goes in that close to campus. If that happens maybe it will be cheaper to keep my son closer to home and send him to Penn State instead of USU for college.

Freddy's is better than both of them.
I used to love In-N-Out, but I just don't think it can compete with its "better burger" peers. Give me Freddy's or Five Guys any day.

And unlike In-N-Out, they also have delicious fries. In-N-Out doesn't even have decent fries. I do, however, like their traditional milkshakes. Re: Mason Falslev
I guess the price of hamburger fat is a lot more expensive than the actual beef, and 5 Guys thinks serving extra fat is their niche. I had a friend buy me a grease patty from there a couple of weeks ago, and not only are they expensive (thankfully I wasn’t buying), but after eating my food, it took three bottles of hand soap, plus 300 hundred gallons of water to get the grease off my hands. If you are proactively looking to die of a heart attack, this is your place. Oh, and by the way, super excited to have Mason join the Aggies!superheroboy wrote: ↑October 26th, 2021, 2:35 pmIn-N-Out is fine if you're in need of a cheap burger, but 5 Guys and Habit are hands down better burgers.

Love Freddie’s too (originated in Kansas I think). I think Stake’n Shake is nearly as good though and is less expensive so I think it’d do even better in a college town. I also like Culver’s but I don’t think they have them out West either do they?

Re: Mason Falslev
Love me some 5 Guys but it is greasy but delicious and the fries are to die for. Steak and shake shoes have great shake but everything else is average at best, there is a steak and shake in Colorado but they are mostly back east.
Freddy's is OK but Andy's custard is FAR better. I've never understood fascination with In N Out. It is cheap and everything is OK but when they opened in Denver area there were waits for over an hour which is insane for average food. In N Out seems to be a cultural phenomenon, they are like the Kardashians, they are famous for being famous not because of substance. I would like to try Habit burger but have not yet had the opportunity.

Re: Mason Falslev
Let me take this further off the rails into the spot where the sage brush grows and argue that Logan has some restaurants that are completely unique to Cache Valley that are each amazing. And supporting local restaurants over chains keeps Logan unique and is good for the economy.
— Callaway’s (those breadsticks)
— Tandoori Oven (give me some of that coconut curry)
— Caffe Ibis (coffee so good, cafes all over Utah and beyond brew it)
— Stacked (The owner is nice and them flapjacks are mighty tasty)
— Herm’s (them flapjacks )
— MayMoes (southern comfort without the Southern Comfort)
— The Westside Coffee company (Good everything)
— Crumb Brother’s Artisan Bread (Sunday brunch day)
— Le Nonne (A night in Paris with live music)
— Logan’s Heroes (Good sandwiches and conversations, though I heard the founder solid it?!)
— El Toro Viejo (Mexican food in a nicer dining environment)
— Morty’s (Decent hamburgers. I’ve had better off my grill, but I’ve definitely had worse from the burger chains listed above)
— Angie’s Restaurant (The local greasy spoon diner. It’s a Logan classic; although I like many of the above options for breakfast foods, I’d definitely choose Angie’s over any chain restaurant).
Now what we’re we talking about? Something about Matt Wells? What Smith’s arm tattoo looks like that he’s covering up with his long sleeves? Bowl game projections? Our O-Line?

The fries I have had at 5Guys have been over salted and over cooked. Burgers are good enough I guess. I think they have decent flavor in the patty itself which is good.
Costco is awesome and gives you some great options with their brands.
Target is a big meh but nice to have it close instead of Riverdale Road
Oh and yeah it’s great to have a new football player?

I first had Culvers in Utah. I was underwhelmed. I traveled to Minnesota for work, and it was the only option. Quickly discovered Culvers in Minnesota was significantly better than Culvers in Utah. Not sure why, but the quality is definitely a lot higher in Minnesota (and presumably throughout the midwest).

I had a J-Dawg at the football game last friday and the guy running the food truck told me they had bought a permanent spot in the parking lot of Lees 14th N. So add J-Dawgs to the list of new restaurants coming.

Yeah, Culver’s originated in Wisconsin like 60 years ago and I frequented them 20 years ago when I lived in La Crosse and when they were still run by the Culver family. Great burgers and frozen custard. They’ve gradually spread from there but like many restaurants that franchise and spread, they tend to lose a bit of what made them great to begin with, especially the further you get away from their roots.Aggiefan160 wrote:I first had Culvers in Utah. Re: Mason Falslev
Since people have branched away from Logan, my favorite fast food burger is Tonyburger. It's not a chain but there are a handful of spots in the SL Valley. Also, Crown Burger.
That said, I'll eat and enjoy pretty much any hamburger...I won't even discriminate against McDonald's.
Habit is excellent
Shake Shack is expensive but excellent. The shack sauce is great.
5 Guys is very good, but overpriced
In n Out is good - gotta get it animal style, but overall it's overrated...that says more about people's obsession with it than it does about In n Out, though.
Freddy's is good, I like the shoestring fries
Culver's is good, but nothing to write home about. I like their crinkle cut fries.
Steak and Shake was good. I've only had it once, but don't remember it being anything special...certainly wasn't bad though.
I still need to try Whataburger. People seem to love that place.
Of all these, I miss the Big Blue Special at the Logan A&W the most (RIP). We ate a ton of those in high school for $5 after tax for the burger, fries and root beer from the tap.

Re: Mason Falslev
I thought the most shocking part of this thread was that Mason could possibly end up an Aggie but that has been quickly taken over by the number of people that have stated Habit Burger or 5 Guys is good.
I'm honestly not even sure how either stays in business in Vegas. You can walk in to a Habit or 5 Guys and be the only one there...during an entire lunch hour. I've been to 3 different Habit Burgers in town (only the 1st time by my own choice) and wanted to walk out every time....My wife was with me on the first trip and took one bite of her burger and said "let's go". 5 Guys burgers are mediocre but the plastic canned mushrooms they use push me over the "no thanks" edge. Also, their fries are soggy, always burnt, and over salted.

Habit Burger started in California (Santa Barbara if I'm not mistaken) and was very good before it became a franchise. You could say almost the same thing about just about every other fast food joint.Aglicious wrote: ↑October 27th, 2021, 11:02 amI thought the most shocking part of this thread was that Mason could possibly end up an Aggie but that has been quickly taken over by the number of people that have stated Habit Burger or 5 Guys is good.

Re: Mason Falslev
I can't see how any of these burgers could compare to the jalapeno-garlic burger I cook on my grill at home.
fresh minced garlic, chopped jalapeno, an egg, and whatever happens to be on my hands as I mix the hamburger and other ingredients and form the patty. Grill that to a medium/medium well state, add pepperjack or provolone cheese, some mustard and Thousand Island dressing, onions, a little lettuce and a lightly toasted bun and you're good to go.

I know who I want to make me a burger. Yossarian you are right. Cook it your way and add the flavors you want is best but we’re all lazy people here.
I’m surprised nobody has mentioned Apollo and Crown burgers. Both give you a decent greasy cheeseburger if you can find a place with a staff that cares. If you don’t I would avoid them
