He may be a candidate but he isn't leaving! I heard from a reliable source that he and his wife LOVE Logan. In fact, whenever they're asked by fans they always say they LOVE Logan.

Re: Odom a Texas job Candidate?
I love Odom, and I think he's done a great job at USU and I'm glad he's our coach.
That said, there's absolutely no chance he's even on the radar for that job. Their last hire was a guy who had coached his team to a national runner-up finish, imagine selling that fanbase on a guy who missed the last NCAA Tournament and got smoked in the first round of the NIT.

The other coach wears long sleeves everywhere regardless of temperature. When the team went snorkeling in Jamaica he wore a long sleeve shirt.

Yeah...that's not happening yet. I expect their first call will be Kelvin Sampson, down the road at Houston. Texas was paying Beard $2 million a year more than Sampson is currently making at Houston.

Yeah he’s the shoo in for that job, and he may take our own Alan Bishop who is at Houston to train the Texas hoopers as well3rdGenAggie wrote: ↑January 6th, 2023, 2:12 pmYeah...that's not happening yet. I agree with others that I doubt he is in the running. On top of that, he has apparently had P5 offers in the past and turned them down. I have no doubt that he would leave for the right job but I don't think it's Texas.

Yeah they discredited themselves rather quickly by claiming he coached UMBC to the sweet 16.

Texas will not hire coaches that have lost quad 4 home games. Odom for sure will not be in the running.

Re: Odom a Texas job Candidate?
Word is that they like their current home but they don't LOVE it so they're in the process of having their FOREVER home custom built with the kitchen and cabinetry (island cabinet to be painted navy blue and all other cabinets white) that Mrs Odom LOVES. The home is expected to be completed this summer. The exterior will be painted navy blue, white, and gray. The custom built mailbox will be a blue bull with blue balls and a nose ring.Real Life Aggie wrote: ↑January 6th, 2023, 11:47 pmAny word on the kitchen and cabinetry? Joking aside, doesn’t Gary still live in Logan? I saw him and his wife shopping a home depot last summer.

Re: Odom a Texas job Candidate?
It's in the works. Word is that the tattoo artist, in consultation with Travis Baker & Birdman, began designing it shortly after Ryan arrived in Cache Valley. However, it's taking a while because Ryan wants it to be impeccable and timeless as it will be a neck sleeve tattoo. Aggie Bball coaches seem to like sleeves.treesap32 wrote: ↑January 7th, 2023, 7:59 amDoes he have a Utah State themed tattoo yet or does that come later?Aggie in Boise wrote: ↑January 7th, 2023, 7:03 amWord is that they like their current home but they don't LOVE it so they're in the process of having their FOREVER home custom built with the kitchen and cabinetry (island cabinet to be painted navy blue and all other cabinets white) that Mrs Odom LOVES. There’s a non-zero chance he’s the next Texas coach, say .00000001%?

No offense to Odom but Jordan Love's total body of work as it relates to the NFL was more impressive than Odom's is as it red l relates to a P5 head coaching job.ususports wrote: ↑January 7th, 2023, 4:06 pmAbout as good as Jordan Love’s piss-poor junior season stats that landed him as a 1st round draft pick.brownjeans wrote: ↑January 7th, 2023, 1:19 pmWhat has Odom done to be poached by a higher-paying job?
Results speak for themselves, Love was a high draft pick and Odom isn't a P5 coach.
Odom hasn't done enough to be a P5 coach yet

Re: Odom a Texas job Candidate?
Aside from the fact that he coached possibly the biggest NCAA upset of all time at UMBC, he inherited a USU team that was expected to struggle and fielded two NCAA contenders in a row. He's a good coach and I am sure he will get a higher-paying job offer at some point. I would not be shocked to see him get an offer from a lower-tier P5 at the end of this season, particularly if USU has an NCAA run. However, I will be shocked if he gets the Texas job (either now or at the end of the season).brownjeans wrote: ↑January 7th, 2023, 1:19 pmWhat has Odom done to be poached by a higher-paying job?

I like Odom. I don’t think he or his current staff is the staff that’s going to be able to recruit the type of players to Logan that it’s going to take for USU to win a tourney game, so I’d be okay if he left for another opportunity.

Why would you want him to leave if you like him?

I am saying I am ambivalent, good sir. If he stays, I think we’ll be good and competitive, but I don’t think he’ll get us over the tourney hump, so if he gets another opportunity and wants to leave, good for him.FloridaAggie13 wrote: ↑January 14th, 2023, 12:04 amThis doesn't make any sense.
