There's a big part of me that kind of hates the fact that I'm supposed to be mad about that shot. I love me a good buzzer beater, and seeing that in a game I'm neuteral about is usually great, but with this at large stuff I'm obligated not to like it.

Meh. Their NET is in the mid 60s and they’re in a western conference. If they beat both USC and UCLA next weekend then that might get them in. I was pissed to see it go in because I can’t stand the scum devils (having lived in Tucson for several years).
Y’all are so negative and sky is falling sometimes.
Aggies take care of business and we’ll be fine.

They just beat a top 5 team on the road. They will probably get in if they avoid any bad losses. That win trumps any of ours.Section_L_Aggie wrote: ↑February 25th, 2023, 2:58 pmMeh. Meh, they would have to go on a deep run in the PAC tournament in order to get their net high enough.
I think as soon as UNR bumps up to 30 next week we will have our Q1 win and be just fine, then when we beat Boise we will have smooth sailing the rest of the way.

Re: Who to root for guide
U of A has been a little overrated all year. Top 15 more realistically.
I’m more concerned about UNC beating UVA later. Especially since the east coast bias will come in strong for them.

Re: Who to root for guide
That Washington kid that transferred from Nevada had a good game also. There must have been some serious locker room issues in Nevada last year, because Washington, Cambridge and Sherfield are all P6 talents. Got to hand it to Alford for how he has retooled that squad. I would add that if having an a$$hat for a coach is a plus, then Arizona St is a lock.

Yes it will be. Miami will drop probably 10 spots. They were favored by 13.5 points. It was a really bad loss. Auburn is going to lose by 30 at Kentucky so Nevada should move to 30 or higher.
Re: Who to root for guide
It’s a Q4 loss for Miami after they squandered a 25-point lead. USU will also move up a spot, or at least pass Miami.Aggie84025 wrote: ↑February 25th, 2023, 4:10 pmYes it will be. Losses by Oklahoma State, Texas Tech and West Virginia today were also somewhat helpful. They all lost to ranked teams, but almost all other teams in the Big 12 are ranked.
As has been mentioned here, USC losing to lowly Utah would give the Aggies another boost.

I see it differently. USC could do the world a favor and beat Utah. Can't bring myself to cheer for them under any circumstances.

Including giving a team that is currently by most bracket people a better bubble position than we are a Q1 win? Sometimes your enemy can be your friend. I'm in the anything that helps us crowd.

Catch 22 for us on Tuesday: Boise wins @ home against the Aztecs, and they hold the tiebreaker over us, but would give us that coveted Q1 opportunity at home Saturday. They lose Tuesday and we control our destiny for the 3 seed, but likely still without a Q1 win. LOL

They also lost to Texas Southern, which blows our Weber State loss out of the water. the final number says we’re the better team, regardless of one really big win.ThunderAggie wrote: ↑February 25th, 2023, 2:59 pmThey just beat a top 5 team on the road. Re: From whence to cheer hither to guide
SDSU just choked away a lead with 6 seconds left, took a terrible 3 at the buzzer instead of going to the rim, and hit it to win anyway.

Don't ever a foul a 3 point shooter and if you have the possession arrow don't rush the pass. Great shot but poor execution the rest of the last 30 seconds.QuackAttackAggie wrote: ↑February 25th, 2023, 10:12 pmSDSU just choked away a lead with 6 seconds left, took a terrible 3 at the buzzer instead of going to the rim, and hit it to win anyway.

Re: From whence to cheer hither to guide
It looks like Sunday’s results are generally favorable for the Aggies.
Illinois is 31 in the NET and USU is 32. Illinois was favored by 4 at Ohio State and lost by 12. The Aggies will almost certainly move ahead of Illinois tomorrow.
Wisconsin lost to Michigan. Wisconsin is right in the bubble but a couple of spots ahead of the Aggies in many brackets.
Bradley is beating up on Drake and could cover the spread by ten points.
A Rutgers win over Penn State (another bubble team) would also help.
Indiana State (94) was favored at home by 8 over Missouri State (155) but lost by four. This is relevant because Loyola Marymount is 101, and could move up to 100 tomorrow to become a Q2 win again.

Re: From whence to cheer hither to guide
If a team is a "Quad 1 team" of the highest order (i.e. top 30 NET), then shouldn't it receive a bid automatically based on that objective ranking metric? If beating Team X is a measure of Team Y's worthiness for the tournament, it seems Team X should be in already.
I'm a reasonable man, get off my case.

Re: From whence to cheer hither to guide
That's unofficially what has happened in the NET era. I suppose a top 30 team could be left out, but it hasn't happened yet. The ten highest NET-ranked teams to miss the tournament were … 2019 NC State (NET: 33); 2019 Clemson (35); 2019 Texas (38); 2022 Oklahoma (39); 2022 Xavier (40); 2019 Furman (41); 2021 Penn State (42); 2021 Saint Louis (43); 2021 Texas A&M (43); and 2021 SMU (45). There were changes to NET after 2019, so our NET looks pretty good for an at-large right now. Even top 35 or top 40 are promising based on history.Rabidchild wrote: ↑February 26th, 2023, 3:49 pmIf a team is a "Quad 1 team" of the highest order (i.e. top 30 NET), then shouldn't it receive a bid automatically based on that objective ranking metric? Re: From whence to cheer hither to guide
Northwestern and Illinois both lost. Rutgers seem to be on their way to an L. All direct competition if you believe the NET.
