Contract details
I hereby nominate @aggies22 to find out contract details- specifically annual salary and buy out provisions. Bonus points if we can get a H and H with whoever poaches him.

Re: Contract details
Seconded!
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

Re: Contract details
Contracts should come with automatic kickers for conference championships, NCAA tourney at large bids, and tourney wins. Salary increases and contracts extends when these things happen; that way you don’t have a coach trying to extend during the season just because he starts out 9-0, a season after being average. Takes all the guess work out.

Re: Contract details
Honestly, the more coaches we ship up a level, the closer we get to that level. If we are able to offer Sprink a contract extension like the one suggested for Odom (assuming he’s successful), we are eventually going to lose fewer and fewer coaches. Our salary pool is trending in the right direction. 650 for Smith, 800 for Odom, 900 for sprinkle…

Re: Contract details
If that put all that windfall in Bitcoin and gold we might be able to hire Tom Izzo in a couple years. Or we might be hiring the guy nmsu fired this year.sammyhagar wrote: ↑April 7th, 2023, 3:09 pm

Re: Contract details
So if I read that right for an example if he stayed 2 years and left for a better job the buyout would be 2.7mm. Am I understanding that correctly?

Re: Contract details
I think if he were to leave before April 1st 2025 the buyout would be $2,025,000. If he leaves after April 1st, 2025 it would be $1,350, 000 and continue declining for any time spent after his second year.

Re: Contract details
His buyout would be $2.25 million on March 31, 2025 and $1.5 million on April 1, 2025. With the 25K increase each year, he would have $3 million left on his contract in 2025, so you multiply that by 75% and 50% respectively. If he were to leave in 2026, it would be 50% of the remaining two years of his contract.Aggie84025 wrote: ↑April 7th, 2023, 5:10 pmSo if I read that right for an example if he stayed 2 years and left for a better job the buyout would be 2.7mm. Re: Contract details
You are correct, my math was wrong I was putting the whole amount and instead of just 50%. Thanks

Re: Contract details
There it is, I didn't factor in the $25k increase each year (and I suck at math).ususports wrote:His buyout would be $2.25 million on March 31, 2025 and $1.5 million on April 1, 2025. Re: Contract details
Wow — I’m pleasantly surprised. Jumping from $175,000 to $900,000 is a nice move for Sprinkles. Any idea how our $900,000 compares to other MWC head coaches?

Re: Contract details
THe below is a year old but this will put Sprinkle as the 4th highest paid coach in the MWC. Of note looking at Danny's contract at MSU his base of 175k but reading an article with all of his bonuses he was closer to 300k. Still to triple your salary is a huge amount.travelingagg wrote: ↑April 7th, 2023, 5:51 pmWow — I’m pleasantly surprised. Jumping from $175,000 to $900,000 is a nice move for Sprinkles. Re: Contract details
Chris Murray ranked the MWC head coaching jobs recently and includes salaries for each coach other than AFA, which is private. Odom was still here when he wrote this: https://nevadasportsnet.com/news/report ... t-to-worsttravelingagg wrote: ↑April 7th, 2023, 5:51 pmWow — I’m pleasantly surprised. SDSU (1.3MM), Nevada (1.2MM), and CSU (1.1MM) all pay more than 900K. Boise is at 900K so we are currently tied with them for 4th place in the MWC and within range of the top paid coaches (I'm guessing SDSU coach will get a nice bump in a week or two to reflect their tourney run).
