Karson Templin. Dallin Grant is a Craig Smith recruit but I'm under the impression he is still coming as well.

Anyone know what roster spots Odom has to fill at VCU? Is there a spot available for either Phelps of Sakho at VCU?

I know Sprinkle had offered Phelps at MSU so they must have some type of relationship. Being from the West (Az) I’d think we may have a leg up on Odom but maybe Phelps is considering more than USU and VCU.

Actually to be more specific, most of the VCU players bailed while Odom was flying to Richmond. When he left Logan he had basically a full team, and by time he landed no team any more.

Beat me to it. I loved the few times the camera actually panned to the players sitting off to the side in the front row. They were all slumped down in their chairs looking at their phones like they were trying to avoid eye contact with Odom. All the while Odom is repeatedly pointing at them and saying things like "the only thing that matters is these guys right here, right? We're all here today because of them, right? I just can't wait to get in there, right? and help continue the great tradition of Rams basketball, right?"

I may have paraphrased a bit by removing some "rights?" out of there for the sake of reading time.

Perhaps that player was overwhelmed with the amount of energy, excitement, enthusiasm, and personality that Odom brought to the press conference? It can be overwhelming for some. Right?

The thing is though, unless he is following Odom to VCU, he is going to have a hard time getting interest from other schools with those numbers, because other schools don't know that there is more to the story. With those numbers he will get filtered out before anyone even try to find out why.

Seems like his only options will likely be VCU or USU. But I would guess he goes to VCU.

Not to disparage the members of this prestigious board, but recruiters are going to be looking beyond what we will. If the guy has skills (and 22, among others, have asserted that he does), then he'll have opportunities. Especially when he has offers from other good institutions. I mean, if someone had terrible numbers, but they had offers from respectable institutions like UCLA and Indiana, you'd dig in a little bit.

Scouting the Stat Sheet is a skill that many, including those on the board have polished.

We tend to look at numbers and ignore context. Coaches (and Aggies 22) look deeper.

If you think we're going nuts here in Aggieland, there has essentially been no news on VCU roster commits since Odom took over - and they have 9 extra days on us. Ram Nation is in a world of hurt right now.

If you think we're going nuts here in Aggieland, there has essentially been no news on VCU roster commits since Odom took over - and they have 9 extra days on us. Ram Nation is in a world of hurt right now.

Bairstow and Shulga will fill two of those spots.

I totally understand there is more to the story with Sakho. And I see how that might impact the excitement level all of us should have if he were to come to USU. But unless Odom wants to bring him along to VCU, I just have a tough time seeing a D1 school — let alone one that would be an improvement over his spot at USU — offering him a scholarship. Maybe I am wrong. I think we will land him, or be stuck with him, as the case may be.

I would personally see losing him as a net positive, because I am having a tough time seeing past the stats. Stats don’t lie.

Sometimes the stat sheet does lie in that it ignores context. I trust that coaches do enough digging to know the context and how it affects the stat line.

Scouting the stat line is not very reliable.

Kalifa would be huge. Couple him at center with these high potential power forwards and pick up 2/3 of Baker, Brown, Roddy maybe throw Phelps into the mix with Falslev and we have real potential. He would anchor the defense and provide the size inside we need.
