New Rotation Player??
New Rotation Player??
Look for Ian Martinez to be on the court soon as his transfer exception has been granted. He is very talented and has much to offer offensively and defensively with a very high basketball IQ.
How does he fit into the rotation? I am really liking our guard line and rotations without him.

So reading between the lines, you have some inside information that Ian Martinez's transfer exception will be granted after all?IdAggie wrote: ↑November 9th, 2023, 2:20 pmLook for Ian Martinez to be on the court soon as his transfer exception has been granted. Re: New Rotation Player??
Almost an embarrassment of riches. How does Sprinkle find the PT for all these guys? Brown, Uduje, and Falslev can't have time cut to make room can they? These are the guys that play where Ian would so???? Playing at the 3 seems like a stretch for Martinez from a size standpoint.

Re: New Rotation Player??
Wow! Idid not expect this. This is great news. He is super athletic. Not as great a 3 point shooter as some of the others but can score. Will get to the rim. I think this moves Burris to the 4 more. Depending on how Javon Jackson plays look for Mason to play a little point guard.

Re: New Rotation Player??
I'm sure there are a few others, but the only guy I'm vaguely familiar with that got an exemption if RJ Dennis for Baylor via Toledo/BSU. I know the big guy from UVU that went to Texas Tech and then to Cal got denied. My buddy said the Utes have a guy from Georgia Tech that hasn't been cleared. Not only is the NCAA not consistent, but not being able to make decisions by season's start is baffling. But hey...if we get Ian who cares about the others.flying_scotsman2.0 wrote: ↑November 9th, 2023, 2:45 pmHow tf did he do it?? Everyone seems to be getting denied

Re: New Rotation Player??
What IF we burned a redshirt because we expected it to be denied? IE maybe Jackson plays very little now. Or maybe Burris now plays a lot on at the 4 and you don’t see templin getting many mins. Terrible management from the ncaa.Bank Shot wrote: ↑November 9th, 2023, 2:54 pmI'm sure there are a few others, but the only guy I'm vaguely familiar with that got an exemption if RJ Dennis for Baylor via Toledo/BSU. Yeah I would think they could make a change to that, especially after only 1 game played. Then again I have no idea how it workscval wrote:I don’t know anything, but I would think that another exception would be in order if other decisions were made based on their tardy response.

They let football players play in 4 games and keep a redshirt. There is absolutely no reason a basketball player shouldn't get 6 or 7 games and keep their redshirt.

Ian plays a lot. Immediately. I have to agree. This likely affects Javon Jackson and Mason will play some point guard.slcagg wrote: ↑November 9th, 2023, 3:20 pmDepth chart now?aggies22 wrote: ↑November 9th, 2023, 3:19 pmI can confirm this as well. Re: New Rotation Player??
When you have 4 ex-top 100 recruits, 3 other P6 offered players, three all-Big Sky players, a player had over 13 points per game last year at Costal Carolina, a player who was the star freshman in D2 ball, and 2 mid-major offered players, the wins will follow especially with NCAA tournament head coach.aggies22 wrote: ↑November 9th, 2023, 3:20 pmIan plays a lot. Main 4 guards are Brown, Falslev, Ian, and Uduje, Jackson is the 5th wheel in that.aggies22 wrote: ↑November 9th, 2023, 3:20 pmIan plays a lot. Immediately. I have to agree. I wonder the best lineup would be Ian, Brown, Falslev, Johnson, and Osobor. The speed of the guards would probably cause havoc for opposing teams.

Wow this is great news that Ian will play. Going to be awesome to see how Danny manages time/positions for all these players. I hope it works out that we play a solid 10 man rotation. That can go along for foul trouble, injuries, rest etc during the end of the season.

Re: New Rotation Player??
IT is mind blowing how inept the NCAA is. There is no reason to have waivers that were entered in a timely manner not be decided by before the first game of the season.slcagg wrote: ↑November 9th, 2023, 2:57 pmWhat IF we burned a redshirt because we expected it to be denied? Re: New Rotation Player??
I found a couple of other exceptions where transfer was allowed where there was a coaching change, but that's not case with Ian or RJ Dennis and a few where there was a coaching change and were denied, like the kid from Montana St that went to West Virginia. No consistency at all with the process

The waiver was probably based on coaching changes. I believe that we have the coach that recruited him when he was at Utah.Bank Shot wrote: ↑November 9th, 2023, 4:41 pmI found a couple of other exceptions where transfer was allowed where there was a coaching change, but that's not case with Ian or RJ Dennis and a few where there was a coaching change and were denied, like the kid from Montana St that went to West Virginia. Maybe so, but then again, does Baylor have a coach that recruited him to Boise or Toledo? No common denominator it seems.SLB wrote: ↑November 9th, 2023, 4:50 pmThe waiver was probably based on coaching changes. Yeah. We don’t know what was said in the waiver request, or what type of stuff they look at in making the decision. Remember the guy that Stew said could have been approved if he had worded his answers just a little differently?

While I get what you are saying, expecting to play meaningful minutes, then losing the chance on a situation like this could make one more likely to decide not to stick around.
Just seems like they are being jerked around unnecessarily.

22 was rather clear when I asked the question earlier, it'll be most Falslev. Per 22 Ian is "hand down" the better player. Put that into perspective. I like the way this year is shaping up. Bradley, here we come.
