Disappointing to only have one MW team in the AP Poll, but pretty insane to have six teams either in or receiving votes.

13-4 Creighton went 0-2 against MWC schools. Creighton is ranked ahead of us in the Coaches Poll.
Colorado State beat them 69-48.
UNLV beat them 79-64.

This can't be right (16 and 17). I mean, have you seen our highlight videos compared to other top 25 teams?

A #16 in the AP poll and a #20 in the NET should get USU an 11 seed as the "last team in" for the NCAA tournament.

I'm glad you mentioned Creighton. They don't belong. They've stubbed their toe too much. Marquette? Ditto. YBU will get exposed again on Tuesday.

Re: #16 AP/ #17 Coaches poll
I should also mention that it is not correct for the AP and Coaches to keep punishing MWC teams (SDSU for example) for losing on the road to teams such as New Mexico, Utah State, SDSU, Boise State, Colorado State, Nevada. This conference has arrived, for hel!'s sake!

It's also time for the voters to get over Florida Atlantic already. Yeah. They had a final four run. That was then. This is now.

Re: #16 AP/ #17 Coaches poll
MWC is 3-1 in the OOC against top 25 teams.
UNLV and Colorado State beat Creighton. (69-48 CSU and 79-64 UNLV)
Nevada beat TCU 88-75
San Diego State lost to BYU 74-65.
Seeing both TCU and Creighton ranked ahead of Nevada and Colorado State is a joke.
Something to think about with the P6 conferences.
San Diego State beat the 3rd place PAC 12 team.
Nevada beat the 3rd place Big 12 team.
Colorado State and UNLV beat the 4th place Big East team.
UNLV and Colorado State beat Creighton. (69-48 CSU and 79-64 UNLV)

The voters are making themselves look like clowns. They punished MWC teams for beating each other while rewarding teams that the MWC beat in the OOC.AggieFBObsession wrote: ↑January 15th, 2024, 11:55 amI should also mention that it is not correct for the AP and Coaches to keep punishing MWC teams (SDSU for example) for losing on the road to teams such as New Mexico, Utah State, SDSU, Boise State, Colorado State, Nevada. I am pretty certain the voters don't even know that 13-3 Colorado State, UNLV, and 15-2 Nevada beat teams that are claimed to be so good in their rankings.

Re: #16 AP/ #17 Coaches poll
The PAC12 is a real mystery right now. Arizona is #2 in the NET but they have lost a couple of head scratchers.
Oregon's NET is in the 50s and they're undefeated in the PAC 12 right now and sitting at #1 in that conference. I estimate that their NET is underrated right now. One of their losses is to Santa Clara. The Broncos are making us (MWC) look good right now, but the voters aren't catching on.
Arizona State is 10-6 overall but only one loss in conference. They've beaten Stanford and Utah thus far. However, they still haven't faced Arizona or Oregon.
IMO, the MWC as a whole is a significant step above the PAC12. If those are the PAC12's best 3 teams, I'd like our chances as a conference if we had a round robin with them.
Let's not forget that the majority of voters are east of the Mississippi River. As long as that's the case, there's going to be an east coast bias. The west can play basketball quite well and the MWC is evidence of that.

Here is a pollster that ranks Creighton #8 while ranks us 24th.
Someone should send this person the box score of both the Colorado State and UNLV games against Creighton then add the Aggies box score against both Colorado State and UNLV.

Re: #16 AP/ #17 Coaches poll
Hoopla. That's a bit of an exaggeration. The rankings bring attention through sports media to a program that needs the attention and deservedly so needs it. The attention helps recruiting also and brings a brand name to "Utah State". No. It's not just Hoopla. There are a lot of organizations that spend millions upon millions for similar attention. It's called marketing and marketing matters.TheMavSpec wrote: ↑January 15th, 2024, 1:24 pmNice to be getting recognition but rankings are hoopla until end of season. JF keep W

Re: #16 AP/ #17 Coaches poll
Tomorrow is the first true national TV game on FS1. CBS Sports is an exclusive channel that gets overlooked. The road game against San Diego State is on Fox which is also going to be a big game for national rankings.
