Wyoming Attendance
What the hell happened? Looked like we were playing SJSU tonight? Are there that many other great things to do in Laramie Wednesday night? Not the Wyoming of old and quite frankly embarrasing.

I think they are still recovering from the fallout from last year's team marketing cover photo.

Re: Wyoming Attendance
Yeah, that surprised me. After hearing all about how tough they have been to beat at home this season, I at least expected a decent environment. Nothing but empty seats on the broadcast. But I’m not complaining, just glad we got the win.

They would have had 2 more fans in the stands if they hadn’t pulled them down to announce the game.

There could not have been more than 50 students in the student section. Absolutely embarrassing showing from the Wyoming fans.

I think they have a tough time on weekday games compared to weekend games since so many people travel to Laramie for the games.

Got to remember that it was Valentine's Day too.
Not everyone is as lucky as I am with a wife/gf that lets me think that the most romantic outing we could make together would be to an Aggie game.
I maybe give them a bit of a pass. And I'm grateful too because if that place was buzzing like I know it can I'm not sure we come back for the W last night. Glad we escaped unscathed...that one had me a bit nervous going into the game, let alone in the first half...

It was Date Night in Wyoming (Valentines Day) so the majority of the folks in Laramie were not at the game.

Re: Wyoming Attendance
That's how the Fresno game was for us. Regular tickets sold out, but the people in the first 10 rows behind the announcers were not there so it gave the appearance that no one was there.AggieIceCream05 wrote: ↑February 15th, 2024, 10:11 amThere was over 3,000 people there in attendance!? I noticed that there was a chunk of open seats on row 2, section A, during the Bosie game. I can't imagine those tickets would be hard to give away if you couldn't make it last minute. I'm very grateful to this board for how well it allows people to give away or sell their tickets.

On the radio, Scotty mentioned the official attendance and then said there were probably only about half that many people there.AggieIceCream05 wrote: ↑February 15th, 2024, 10:11 amThere was over 3,000 people there in attendance!? That honestly blows my mind. Where were they hiding?

Do they have significantly better crowds on other days? The Valentines day excuse only works if that's the case.ShowMeAggie wrote: ↑February 15th, 2024, 7:02 amGot to remember that it was Valentine's Day too.

Re: Wyoming Attendance
Agreed, it had nothing to do with valentines day. They have had 2 games over 4k attendance this year. 4,100 for the Nevada game and 7,100 for the CSU game the rest have been in the 3,500 range. They are struggling to get good attendance, obviously the product on the court has not been great but those are still bad numbers.hipsterdoofus21 wrote: ↑February 16th, 2024, 8:57 amI'm not buying the Valentine's Day excuse because what else is there to do in Laramie?Gidbob wrote: ↑February 16th, 2024, 7:14 amDo they have significantly better crowds on other days? Re: Wyoming Attendance
There is a thread about it on their message board. Apparently the coaches haven't been fan friendly, and they botched a renovation of the stadium that ended up making the fan experience worse. They've had declining attendance for a few years, it would seem.

Linder is seen by many to be a Napolean-like character.
The most embarrassing part is student attendance. We are facing a ranked team and and had about 50 students show up. A lot of this falls on the athletic department and Linder for failing to reach out to students and the local community.
When I was in school, I remember the first Shyatt year and he was in the dorms with players asking us to come to games. They worked at it. I get a sense that such an effort would be beneath Jeff Linder.
