Three things doomed us

Post by QuackAttackAggie » February 27th, 2024, 9:59 pm

1. Ian Martínez. He had as many turnovers as Fresno state and did not contribute in any other way.
2. Osobor's conditioning. Cramps can happen to anybody but he was winded after ten minutes despite a week off.
3. Three point shooting. Shocker, it bites us again.

Steph Curry would have got the “and one”. That was a foul in my opinion.

Darius Brown doesn’t deserve to go down like we always do

I have to admit, I posted this early hoping this would happen. I still say all three things are true. When is the last time we had a guard with 6 turnovers and zero assists? No assists in 35 minutes no less.

The reverse curse does it again!

Forget Browns three to send it to overtime. Credit @QuackAttackAggie for the win.

Ian seems to have a case of the yips.

Let’s stay in his corner and hope he turns things around these next 3 games! He has saved our bacon a bunch this season and can do it again!

If went with 2 bigs all game, we win this game by 30 to 40 points. They were too short to cover 2 bigs, and you can see it when the limited minutes with Osobor and Johnson.

I would say that free throws hurt worse than the 3-point shot

I’m no coach but changing the starting lineup almost cost us the game.

I get trying to match up but we’re winning so why change what we do to what they might do??

Definitely by the end of OT but I considered it for three too.

Johnson improving is key on FTs since Johnson shoots over 80% on FTs.

I would say the three things were:
Turnovers (17 to 9, points off 11 to 20)
Missed FTs (66%)
Missed layups

I was livid with the lineup because it never worked.
We have Sakho, Johnson, Osobor, and Templin. Heck, Burris would have helped this lineup. Sprinkle got carried away with his gameplan.

We are a good team but there are multiple teams in the conference playing better right now.
This Aggie team will not with the conference tournament.

How can we not have a pick- and- roll play in a set offense with someone as big and athletic as Osobor?

Do you want a guard trying to defend Osobor rolling to the basket? Can a big keep up with him? No.

I was surprised we did not see Templin. There were times I thought his energy could have helped us. Then again, I’m not the head coach of a nationally ranked team that spends multiple hours a day with them at practice.

If I’m trying to keep Sprinkle at USU, I’m sending tape of this game to any school that interviews him for the job. What in the hell was this game plan? No adjustments at half either. It felt like we had no clue what to do against a team that just lost at home by 32 last game

Lol.

I think the fact we are national ranked, have one of the best records in the country, MW champs (hopefully) ett, etc… might carry way more weight than one game (that we ended up winning btw).

Sheesh the overaction around here sometimes us crazy.

Here is a clip of what happens to Fresno State's defense when we had 2 bigs

Spreads out the Fresno State defense and created openings for both bigs
Osobor has inside position with Johnson wide open 3

Strange to adjust to a terrible team instead of letting them adjust to us. Jackson with 17 minutes in this game?

It legit looked like we were trying to throw the game or see what happens if my 6 year old ran the offense…Sprinkles a big boy and would probably admit that was one of the most poorly coached games by any team in the conference this year.
