The ebbs and flows
Missouri, the team with an NCAA tournament win over the Aggies (followed by a loss to 15-seed Princeton) has built on that success by going 0-16 (so far) in the SEC.
That is a roller coaster ride!!!

Re: The ebbs and flows
We should've beat that team. Best match up we've had since Marquette. Unfortunately our coach was busy preparing for his next job instead of scouting Missouri.

How often does a team play a 15-seed to get to the Sweet Sixteen? And we missed the chance due to the VCU express.hipsterdoofus21 wrote: ↑March 5th, 2024, 4:40 pmWe should've beat that team. Re: The ebbs and flows
Kobe Brown was pretty impressive. Don’t think we had anyone who could guard him. Though Princeton figured it out.
Crazy to think how many NBA guys we’ve faced in the tourney over the years.
Off the top of my head…
Brandon Roy
Deandre Jordan
Wesley Matthews
Matisse Thybulle
Kobe Brown
I’m sure I’m missing some. Maybe they all have NBA guys.

I hope we don’t have a similar ending to this season…hipsterdoofus21 wrote: ↑March 5th, 2024, 4:40 pmWe should've beat that team. Best match up we've had since Marquette. Unfortunately our coach was busy preparing for his next job instead of scouting Missouri.

Re: The ebbs and flows
Wasn’t a major factor in the game besides shoving Gary Wilkinson into the sideline, but jimmy butler was on the Marquette team that beat us 58-57pilotaggie wrote: ↑March 5th, 2024, 8:13 pmThat Arizona team we played in 05 had some players including Channing FryeAgTime wrote:Kobe Brown was pretty impressive. Re: The ebbs and flows
And Matt Barnes. Aggies have played some tough teams in March. We are talking about Marquette as our last best chance at a win(and it was) and that team had Butler(as pointed out), former Jazzman Wesley Matthews, former 1st round pick Lazar Hayward and Jerel McNeal who played in the NBA. Amazing the Aggies almost beat that team.

Re: The ebbs and flows
If memory serves, newbold hit a 3 to go up 6 with like 2-3 mins left and they proceeded to bully ball us and win it at the free throw line. Jaxon Mayer hit a meaningless 3 to cut it from 58-54 to 58-57.Aggie formerly in Hawaii wrote: ↑March 5th, 2024, 10:01 pmAnd Matt Barnes. Aggies have played some tough teams in March. Also I believe Wesley and Quayle both fouled out with us in the lead, but I could be wrong.bigblue32 wrote: ↑March 5th, 2024, 10:04 pmIf memory serves, newbold hit a 3 to go up 6 with like 2-3 mins left and they proceeded to bully ball us and win it at the free throw line. Re: The ebbs and flows
In fairness, we did have a chance to tie on the possession before Mayer's three after Marquette missed a FT. Wilkinson missed a step back three pointer which was on line, just a tad short.bigblue32 wrote: ↑March 5th, 2024, 10:04 pmIf memory serves, newbold hit a 3 to go up 6 with like 2-3 mins left and they proceeded to bully ball us and win it at the free throw line. Re: The ebbs and flows
How about the 2002-2003 team that almost beat Kansas. The same Kansas that went to the national championship and had a bunch of NBA guys. Nick Collison, Kirk Hinrich, Wayne Simien, and Keith Langford. I will never forget those 3 point attempts by Pinegar and Butler to tie the game as time ran out. Really feel like we should have won that game, we out rebounded them 30-27 and held them to 2-6 from 3 point range.

Re: The ebbs and flows
Ugh. And don't even get me started about the two layups they took away from us on phantom charging calls. USU gave Kansas a closer game than anyone in the tournament other Carmelo Anthony's Syracuse team (who beat them in the final). Despite our #15 seed, I think we proved we were capable of beating any team in the country that year.shelbjstew wrote: ↑March 5th, 2024, 11:08 pmHow about the 2002-2003 team that almost beat Kansas. Re: The ebbs and flows
These are sad reminders of our past failures in the tournament. So many close calls that ended in failure. I hope this year's team is the special one that turns it into a flow. We have been ebbing for a long ebbing time.
