Re: Sprinkle's (possible) replacements
There is a God. Hopefully Pope guts that program on his way out and sends them back to the All-Church days where they came from.
Not sure we're out of the woods w/ Sprinkle, but great news none the less.
Re: Sprinkle's (possible) replacements
Exactly. Whether this means Sprinkle stays or not, this is great news if true. Pope is a good coach. Get him tf out of this state.

I believe 22 has the best info available, but with this one I'm still in wait and see more. It does change my expectation from 1% of Danny staying to like 25% though.

For sure. I’d prefer our whole team back next year I think. Call me crazy.ChowderAggie wrote: ↑March 19th, 2024, 10:02 amTCU! TCU! TCU!Usu0505 wrote: ↑March 19th, 2024, 9:56 amI think the dance could make or break Sprinkles chances this year. Win a game or two and the UCLA’s come calling. Lose first round and if I’m a huge school like that, I don’t take my chances just yet. See if he can duplicate one more year. Even the score might hold some weight. Solely my opinion though.
Would you rather have a win against TCU or have Sprinkle back next year?

Re: Sprinkle's (possible) replacements
Not a fair trade. Even if DS stays, there's no guarantee we'll do well next year. Think back to how close we came to being in NM or CS shoes this year with W/L. We would've had to win Vegas to dance.
The things we can count on are W/L this week and DS stays or leaves.
Of course I'd rather win and retain DS, but I'd take the win over DS staying if I have to choose. I cheer for USU, not for any specific coach. Gotta break the curse.

I'm worried about USC (and UCLA). Those schools have deeper pockets than u-dubb and Sprinkle has ties to that area. Plus the nightlife.

If Pope wants out, which is great news but very surprising, he will have suitors with more money and better quality programs than Washington. Re: Sprinkle's (possible) replacements
I respectfully disagree. With the same team, schedule a better OOC next year, win the conference and tourney and end up close to the record we have and we would be rewarded. If one Aggie team can really dominate a good OOC and the MW I think we could get a 5 or better. With all the players that could potentially be back, that could be next year.OrangeCountyAggie wrote: ↑March 19th, 2024, 10:29 amWe've come a long way, lol!USU78 wrote: ↑March 19th, 2024, 10:25 amBetter'n 5-12 hellOrangeCountyAggie wrote: ↑March 19th, 2024, 10:22 amAgreed. Likely none of this is happening anyway. For the next coach I’d be ok with a Medved/Petino hire. All of our coaches have had instant success. I think we’d benefit with a coach having a semi rough first year or two but a solid coach that could get us there eventually. Then when they do get us there, they’ll likely need a year or two more to be sought after: I’m tired of USU legacy/tradition carrying coaches on to better gigs after year one or two, so I’d take that even if we struggled for a short period of time.

Cronin's buyout is astronomical, if someone wanted to poach him or if UCLA wanted him gone. I mentioned this before: I don't think Washington is a good landing place for Danny. However, I still think he'll take another opportunity. I just hope it's to a great basketball school, not some sad-sack middling power conference school where he'll make an unholy amount of money in obscurity (e.g., Utah, Washington).
But I can always hope he sticks around.

Don’t get my comments wrongs. I’ll take a TCU win all day and to the bank. And a Purdue. I will also then cheer for Danny as I think he’ll have earned it.
If he loses and leaves, he is dead to me just like others that shall not be named.

Unless the Aggies get a victory in the first round of the tournament i hope he flames out where ever he goes if he does indeed end up leaving. USU gave him a great opportunity, he also has done fantastic but if he leaves without bringing a tournament win i hope he never makes it back to the dance.Real Life Aggie wrote: ↑March 19th, 2024, 10:57 amI mentioned this before: I don't think Washington is a good landing place for Danny. And we even had a night fairly pleasant winter this year. I’m out of this conversation after this. Sprinkle gets judged by me Friday night if he leaves. Not that he cares but I now have a rule. Make the tournament and lose, don’t let the door hit you on the way out. Win and I’ll root for you where ever you go, minus two schools.
Usu makes the tournament way more often than not over the last 20 years. It’s nothing special for us because we have one of the best basketball traditions in the country. Sure, Sprinkle has done well but Utah State has done better.
