Osobor's missed FTs...

Post by MahlerFan1 » March 14th, 2024, 3:10 pm

Are absolutely the reason for this OT, and if it doesn't end well, that is where the blame goes.

Yeah, but a lot of Fresno's good players and big guys have fouled out so we should pull this out.

Looks that way, but those FT misses were bad. The missed dunk didn't help either.

Yeah, it drives me bananas when they miss dunks. Sako is the worst in that category.

You could point the finger in a lot of directions, but that is just one of them.

We played some really abysmal defense at times and really stunk it up rebounding.

So Great scores 29 points, has 17 rebounds, draws 19 fouls on the other team and drags us to a win and the only thing you are focused on is a few missed free throws?

Not getting great the ball for 8-10 straight minutes was criminal. Dude was cooking today and yet Martinez kept chucking up bricks. That’s what almost cost us this game.

Fresno wins going away if we don’t have Osobor. He needs to make his free throws, but he put us on his back for long stretches. 4:30 minute stretch in the 1st half when Osobor got zero touches, and ill advised 3’s kept Fresno in this.

Doing so poorly from 3 and on defense is was got us tonight. Osobor single handedly fouled out 3 or 4 of their players and scored more than anyone else.

Mahler must be a joy to live with.

Sure those free throws hurt. The dunk was a fluke. But overall a great game with a lot of heart from Great.

Wasn't this whole thread started before the game was over and before Great had the stat line he ended with?

Does it matter. Great created us in this one period. 29 points on 8 shots and 17 rebounds more than civets for the missed free throws.

Yeah, he missed some FTs bc he’s so tired playing 45 mins and doesn’t shoot with his legs at all. What’s more concerning though is after Great fouls out Boakye at 13:02, he only gets 4 more touches until OT while we took 12x 3pt shots. We need to balance that out more and that was the time to keep going to Great as they were in serious foul trouble.

No, but the OG poster made a statement that in game made sense and then people come back after and say...how dare you say that. Just hard to "argue" between two time periods if you ask me

Well, the poster mentioned overtime so Great had already done most of his damage by then.

Great was really good today. That is an amazing stat line. Also, his foul shooting was terrible and missing a dunk isn't a fluke. He has missed several like that this year.

This thread really hits the point that two things can be true at the same time. Great can have a tremendous game AND struggle from the line. He goes to the line so often that his 60%ish foul shooting results in a lot of points being left on the table. His form looks really good and I think it’s more mental than anything.

The amazing thing about Osobor is he can put up 29 and 17 and still have so much room for growth. Another year in the system and fix a few things and he could be even more dominate.

Osobor was great. He was the reason he won. Those FT misses are too bad, but the reason the game was close was Martinez. An abismal 1 for 12....... 1 for 12... 1 for F ing 12.... Everything else pails in comparison..

I think Martinez is a great player... Sometimes. But sometimes he is just awful.. appears to me he cant mentally focus on an away court...

I think fans overhype Martinez. He defends well, but his offense is SO inconsistent it’s frustrating. I want him to shoot less 3s, and be more aggressive driving!
