I worry that you will see why tonight... I hope I am wrong.

Re: Seeding Discussion
Probably comes down to them beating top ranked teams in non-conference play, and not having multiple double digit losses.

Re: Seeding Discussion
Also, winning like 20 games by single digits. Fresno last night was the perfect example. We pulled away a few times, including late in the game, but we allowed them back in every time. Not sure what it is with this team and keeping games close.

Re: Seeding Discussion
None of the algorithms have something called clutch points. Michael Jordan would not have rated highly in the current system.

Re: Seeding Discussion
That’s all in the NET ranking and we are not very far behind them (30 compared to 20). They have 4 more Q1 losses than we do and worse road/neutral record. We should be more even with them. Their Kenpom is much higher than ours.MrBiggle wrote:Probably comes down to them beating top ranked teams in non-conference play, and not having multiple double digit losses.
But, alas, I’m not too worried about it. We should get a 4-6seed at this point and that is good.

Re: Seeding Discussion
They'd just alter it to have a special "Michael Jordan factor" as part of the equation.

Re: Seeding Discussion
Jerry Palm actually has us as the best seeded MW team at least for now. It’s miracle. He usually has us on the down and out. I get Kenpom but there still has to be outliers. Keep it close tonight and 5 may be possible. Win tomorrow and I really think we get a 4 seed. 29 and 6 would be tough to ignore in the best year the MW has ever been.

Re: Seeding Discussion
4 or 5 should be our goal. Huge difference between 5 and 6. Win out maybe the committee will surprise us with a 3 seed. Tall task. Re: Seeding Discussion
StanfordAggie robot here. This is my reminder that seeding is subjective and unpredictable, and there can be significant divergence between a team's S curve rating and its actual seeding in the bracket. So small seeding differences in mock brackets are literally meaningless. And we could lose tonight and get a higher seed, or we could win the tournament and get a lower seed, because the process is subjective and unpredictable. StanfordAggie robot now offline...

Re: Seeding Discussion
I really believe that 5 is our ceiling and we likely only have a chance at it if we win the MWCT. A 4 is a pipe dream.

Re: Seeding Discussion
I wouldn't say it's a pipe dream, but it's not likely even if we win the MWCT.3rdGenAggie wrote: ↑March 15th, 2024, 2:57 pmI really believe that 5 is our ceiling and we likely only have a chance at it if we win the MWCT. A 4 is a pipe dream.
