Mental loss. 100%
Osobor's second foul is one of the stupidest plays I've ever seen an aggie make. David Collette fouling in a tie game with a second left level. And he's the only person who is surprised when he misses a shot.
Brown took some absolutely terrible shots.
Jackson only took terrible shots in the second half.
Once the run started we fell apart.

Great appetizer for next week.
I’ll spoil it — we’ll lose by double digits to a double digit seed and then lose our coach. Best prepare yourselves.

Re: Mental loss. 100%
Oh good choice by Great to avoid his fourth foul and let sdsu dunk the ball with 90 seconds left. Would hate to almost foul out in a game you only trail by double digits.

Re: Mental loss. 100%
Really good choice for sprinkle to save three timeouts to carry over to the next game. Yeah we were reeling and could have used one in either half to calm down. But now we will have 7 to begin the tournament.

Re: Mental loss. 100%
When Ledee gets his 4th foul, we go away from Great for the next few minutes? Why? Instead we have Jackson keeping the ball and doing contested fade-always over a 6-9 guy? That was our decision making down the stretch. We fell apart and it’s absolutely embarrassing.

Thing is, should’ve been his first foul. Randy McCall and Eric Curry are abject (I can't express myself without swearing). They threw us off and then we couldn’t stop the run.QuackAttackAggie wrote: ↑March 15th, 2024, 9:47 pmOsobor's second foul is one of the stupidest plays I've ever seen an aggie make. Agree that Danny should’ve used timeouts though.

That's a load of crap. Fouls were even at halftime and then 10-3 our favor the first sixteen minutes of the second half. SDSU plays harder and more physical and is better coached.Section_L_Aggie wrote: ↑March 15th, 2024, 10:00 pmThing is, should’ve been his first foul. There was a very clear change in officiating after Great’s “second” foul.
The number of fouls is not a fool proof talking point. We must’ve just been lucky to be up 17.

Wally with some barbs in that postgame on CBS Sports — “Danny Sprinkle lost his composure.”
Ouch.
Enjoy, Washington. I, for one, think about 70% of the success coaches enjoy here is due to program quality, home court advantage, and fan base. Gimme that buyout money!

He was busy on the phone making sure his recruits from Oregon and Idaho will academically qualify at Washington, not enough time to work on that AND a gameplan

Winning the conference regular season was bigger. He was there for that one.
And next week will be a bigger game and he will show up as will the team.

Re: Mental loss. 100%
Sprinkle is an amazing coach. But he absolutely was out coached tonight, Wally was exactly right. I agree he lost his composure and the team followed. Sprinkle is young coach, it showed tonight. It’s just one game, and he gets a chance at redemption next week. I’ll never complain about a 27-6 record. The MO of this team is to play substantially better after a crappy showing. Hopefully Sprinkle learns a few things and is better on the biggest stage. Win next week and tonight means nothing.

So many 1 seeds lost today. They’re still good teams. They proved that over and 18 to 20 game schedule. Not 3 crapshoot BS games.

32 Div 1 conferences, and 17 #1 seeds have already lost, and there could be as many as 7 more by Sunday. Tennessee, UNC and Arizona lost today in their semis, so we're not alone.Section_L_Aggie wrote: ↑March 15th, 2024, 10:35 pmExactly. I have no problems with the loss. The effort or complete seeming lack thereof both mental and physical was a different story. Outrebounded by 20. This. Coaches are very fortunate to be here, not the other way around. We provide the benefit. All you have to do is plug a guy with a couple of years at a lower program in and they'll be successful. Re: Mental loss. 100%
just as i said to my boys as we were watching the lead dwindle down, our offense stalls when great is not in, SSSU does not, I think Danny should have put him back in. He was out coached tonight, but we are still the winners of the mountain west and heading to the tournament, let’s enjoy that, then we can all freak out if we win the first game, or move on to football ball if we don’t!
I can say the SDSU fans we sat by where the poorest winning sports fans i have ever experienced. I guess they don’t know how to win with class.

Re: Mental loss. 100%
Brown was off in all facets. He's the leader of that squad and when he can't run the ship properly things will fall apart.
Yes, Sprinkle made some coaching mistakes but it seems to me Brown is the one who helps everybody keep their composure on the court and he wasn't there (mentally or physically) for that game.
