Yeah I have the MWC winning at least 4 1st round games. I’m starting to think maybe 5.

If you look at the odds for all games (see https://www.si.com/betting/2024/03/17/m ... pread-2024), there are only 4 games where the lower seed is favored (excluding the ones you gave above with the same seed)

No. 9 Michigan State (-2) vs. No. 8 Mississippi State
No. 10 Nevada (-1.5) vs. No. 7 Dayton
No. 9 TCU (-3.5) vs. No. 8 Utah State
No. 11 New Mexico (-1.5) vs. No. 6 Clemson

Three of the four involve MWC teams. Now I get that two are 8-9 games, which are probably notorious for being flip-flopped.

If I knew sprinkle and company were committed to coming back I would beg confident this is a good matchup for us.

But who the hell knows

Crazy that the coach and players would give up. I was forced to retire a year early because our plant closed. Could have strolled to the finish line, but did not and three days before we closed was asked to stay on 4 months, get all of my plant closing severance and work most of that time in Hawaii. Glad I didn't pack it in. Why would you stop something you've grown up to do/be change because of unknown circumstances. Don't burn your bridges.

Upset he's leaving, yes, but more upset that it looks like he's negotiated an entire contract and recruited for Washington while on USU's dime. He didn't offer 5* kids because he'd be at USU next year.

that loss to Houston was their worse loss of the season pointwise. Our last loss was our 2nd worse loss of the season point wise. Houston also held them to their lowest point total of the season as they had been averaging about 66 points per poss.

The reason I think there is at least some let up (packing it in, loss of focus, etc.) is that the team was up by 17 points part way through the first half (34 to 17) and eventually lost by 16 (86 to 70) - that's a 33 point scoring differential from our high point to the end. That's an impressive meltdown, loss of focus, etc. Or it's just a sign that the team just isn't as good as we thought.

If I recall correctly the initial line of the USU/SDSU game was also 3.5 for SDSU.

I suspect a repeat of our last game is a more likely outcome than our first NCAA tournament win in ages.

I just can't seem to find my Aggie Blue Goggles for this one.

I sure hope I'm wrong, and the team comes out fired up wanting to leave a legacy. If that happens I'll be very pleasantly surprised.

There is no guarantee that any of the current USU players will ever get another chance to play in the NCAA tourney. If they don't give their all because they are thinking about next year, then they deserve to lose. I don't believe that is the case though and I think the team will be focused and ready to play.

Same goes for the coaching staff, no guarantees that they will ever get another shot at picking up an NCAA tourney win.

Yeah, I am with you. I was REALLY hoping that the Ags would be favored so I could make my normal emotional hedge bet against the Ags. As it is, I'm still going to bet the TCU moneyline.

I’m guessing MW wins two games in the first round.

SDSU and then one of (Nevada/New Mexico)

Others have shared my sentiments about USU and trending down against NM, Fresno, and SDSU. On a neutral court, I think NM beats us.

I think people see an 8 vs 9 seed, and their mind goes to "Oh, the lower seed will win, case closed," so... yeah, that makes sense.

They aren't. Just a weird thing people are saying because they are upset sprinkle is likely leaving.
Upset he's leaving, yes, but more upset that it looks like he's negotiated an entire contract and recruited for Washington while on USU's dime. He didn't offer 5* kids because he'd be at USU next year.
You’ll feel really silly when that 5* commits to USU and USU achieves its destiny of becoming the most dominant basketball team, nay sports team to ever sports in human history…

😂 😆
Whoa! Even better than the Red Wings?

Crazy that the coach and players would give up. I was forced to retire a year early because our plant closed. Could have strolled to the finish line, but did not and three days before we closed was asked to stay on 4 months, get all of my plant closing severance and work most of that time in Hawaii. Glad I didn't pack it in. Why would you stop something you've grown up to do/be change because of unknown circumstances. Don't burn your bridges.

I'll happily eat crow under those circumstances.

I think TCU probably wins this by 10+. I hope I am wrong!
But you are usually so optimistic and positive? What happened?? ;)
