Re: MW transfer portal tracker
Schools picking up players should have to pay a transfer fee to the school losing out on such an open and easy portal system. We need buyouts for players now before the haves completely bankrupt the have nots.

Re: MW transfer portal tracker
We need to allow for scholarships for up to 4 years. Coaches can offer players a 1 year or 4 year scholarship that is negotiable between the coaches and the players. You can take a one year deal but as a player you know that if you don't prove yourself in one year you are likely losing your spot, as a coach you know that if you give a short term deal, if the player is good they will likely transfer out. Offering longer scholarships mitigates those risks but brings on different risks.aggiesdotcom wrote: ↑March 20th, 2024, 10:21 amSchools picking up players should have to pay a transfer fee to the school losing out on such an open and easy portal system. Then you have a no penalty out of the scholarship if you go pro. Transfering before your scholarship is done results in some form of penalty, like a buyout.

Re: MW transfer portal tracker
We just need kids to start signing contracts with collectives.
NCAA clearly has no jurisdiction any more and has no say.
“Hey you can’t do that” from the NCAA doesn’t mean anything anymore. They clearly don’t have any power.
That way our collective can start to
Run as our Athletic Department. IE: develop players, they’re bought out, that buyout money goes back into the collective and keeps growing, and we afford better and better players.
Oh you want Great? Cool, here’s a 200k
Buyout. you want Falslev? 200k. Before we know it our Collective is huge and we’re done losing players.

With how many battles the NCAA is losing in the courts I’m honestly surprised that we haven’t heard of the number of years of eligibility being dropped too.

Not MW related but definitely a below the belt move. Came back to the hometown school, got a bunch of sponsorships and is now bouncing back to his original program.

It sucks being a fan in this environment, but can you imagine being a coach and literally not knowing who your roster is until game time now each week.FromLItoLogan wrote: ↑March 20th, 2024, 12:28 pmNot MW related but definitely a below the belt move. Also, is the portal going to remain a thing anymore if people can transfer whenever they want?

Sooner or later the ones providing the NIL will actually want a return on their investment, or penalty fees for those jumping the fence.

I'd love to see Cardenas come to Logan. His talent matched up with what we potentially have coming back could be a lethal combination. (I'm thinking positive here)

If Sprinkle stays, keeps the team together, and adds Cardenas, we are an elite 8 type of team.

Re: MW transfer portal tracker
This. If the athletes want to treat this like a business, then it should be a business. Sign contracts, penalize broken contracts, teach them some responsibility, and reward NIL donors with some certainty that a player will stick around at least until their contract is up.Bullnamed_gus wrote: ↑March 20th, 2024, 10:57 amWe just need kids to start signing contracts with collectives.

Joser board feels Cardenas and Gorener may be going back to Europe to make some coin. Never hurts to kick the tires though. I would think in that situation they would want starter minutes or go pro.

Re: MW transfer portal tracker
Return on investment? There is no return on the investment. NIL and collectives are simply a means of renting a player for a year depending on the agreement. They are about as binding as a multi-year coaching contract.

That has access to information that we would never have the opportunity to see. I hope I’m wrong and you are right but I don’t think any university or collective shares information Also remember there is a lot of NIl
offers that don’t go through the collective and by the way if we had some one like Caitlin Clark or Oliva Dunne they would bring more money than any male athlete Go Aggies have an awesome day

True, nobody knows the dollar amount and nobody is really sharing, but the dude running the Blue A Collective was on here last week talking about where things currently line up in the MWC. If you’re a restaurant or hotel in Logan there is a serious benefit of the Utah State athletics are good.
Go ask how restaurants do on game days here compared to the duryea days.

Re: MW transfer portal tracker
Here is the part that kinda frustrates me, and all I have to go on is what is said in this forum. I understand that Sprinkle wishes there was more NIL in the coffers, but I also understand people being hesitant to donate because we haven’t had a stable coach or team for a long time. If Sprinkle really does leave because of a lack of NIL, can’t he see that in this community that if he stayed, more people would be willing to put into the collective? If we had a stable coach, the player carousel could go round and round, but we would have confidence in a coach that could pull the right pieces together.
Image if the AGGIES sink millions of dollars into getting good players only to end up with a coach like Duryea.
