Oakland (Michigan) over Kentucky
Golke(sp?) of Oakland, went full-on Jimmy Chitwood.
In the era of NIL ruining college sports, Oakland's coach seems to be a breath of fresh air. Coaching in the same place for 39 years and really seems to love his job, his players and his school. Afterward, he said he was really happy for his players and his school president and AD.

Awesome, it's why this is my favorite sporting event. It's just awesome to see these teams upset the big boys. I just want to see the Aggies get a victory.

Oakland isn’t good enough for this tournament according to Izzo.

Re: Oakland (Michigan) over Kentucky
If it weren’t for games like this in March the NCAA tournament would just be a big tournament but nothing special until the final 4.
But it’s not and it’s why I love March.

Oakland shouldn't have been there. They didn't have to play in Lawlor.

Re: Oakland (Michigan) over Kentucky
Maybe they should eliminate the current tournament format, and instead just make it a 4 team tourney. The 4 teams that bid the most money to play in the tournament would “earn” the right to play. I’m sure national interest and ratings would skyrocket! Make it happen Izzo!!
It would be in the best interest of the student athletes so they could focus on their classes.

Re: Oakland (Michigan) over Kentucky
Last year they were 13-19 with 6 losses at home and 3 by at least 9 points. But that's the kind of season I would trade for a win tomorrow.

Its a nightmare start for the SEC. And I don't mind that at all.

Agreed I enjoy the whole tournament but the first two days are just outright awesome with all of the upsets from the smaller teams.Imakeitrain wrote: ↑March 21st, 2024, 7:52 pmIf it weren’t for games like this in March the NCAA tournament would just be a big tournament but nothing special until the final 4.

Re: Oakland (Michigan) over Kentucky
Honestly, the first weekend is awesome and then I stop watching for the most part after that. The first weekend of the tournament is the most exciting sporting event during the year. It is better than:
World series
NBA playoffs
Superbowl
New Years day bowl games.
The only things that come close are the NHL playoffs (overtimes that can go forever and hinge on the next goal) and maybe the new college football playoff, but only if all conference champs are let in.

But you don't see Rothstein tweeting out the tournament record of the SEC so far, just the Mountain West.

Big 12 is only going to be probably be 2/2 as well with both losses coming as 6 seeds.

Re: Oakland (Michigan) over Kentucky
Tournament is all random. People were saying the acc is overrated because of Virginia, but then NC State dominated tech as an 11 seed. NC State got hot last week and is on a run but was 10th in the acc regular season.Aggie84025 wrote: ↑March 21st, 2024, 10:07 pmBig 12 is only going to be probably be 2/2 as well with both losses coming as 6 seeds.
