Re: We need this win tonight so bad.
I think this might be the year we get the win. Hear me out.
As lifelong aggie fans, we are feeling immense pressure to not lose again. We have seen it year in and year out. It is almost expected now. It is an Aggie tradition in a way. This very thread is perfect evidence that we are putting too much pressure on one game. But here's the deal. This entire team is new to Aggie Basketball. New players. New coaches. New opportunity that is not related to prior years. Hopefully this means that they are not feeling the pressure to avoid losing tonight. Hopefully they just really want to win because it is an amazing opportunity to show what this team is all about. Lets go Aggies! I believe!

I just want Aggie shots going in and Aggie stops on defense. For all that is holy, if that happens we win.AggiePT wrote: ↑March 22nd, 2024, 10:03 amI think this might be the year we get the win. Hear me out.

Re: We need this win tonight so bad.
We just need somebody to go off. The dude from Oakland averaged 12 points a game, went for 32. Duquesne also played physical vs YBU, literally and metaphorically punched them in the mouth, Aggies need to do the same. If one or two role players score above their average and the Aggies are physical on defense they’ve got this thing.

Re: We need this win tonight so bad.
One thing we have going for us is that we are not the media darling or trendy upset pick this year like in most years past. Not many are expecting us to win, just ask Joe Lunardi. He was pretty blunt in stating TCU is the better team and going to win. I like going in without the pressure of expectations and I hope the players play aggressive and with a giant chip.

I thought we were the media darling in that we have all new players and that we have no returning players that scored a point last year. I think the media loves that story. I'm hoping for the best but expecting the worst.
Also, as a side note, tickets to the Indianapolis games are the most expensive according to StubHub.

Purdue Quasi home game will do that. Weird bunch of fans over there, must have an upset kink to keep showing up to purdue first round games

True, it that sense, the media loves our story......but no "experts" are picking us to win. No doubt, we'll get some serious pub if we can pull off a win.blueaggie wrote: ↑March 22nd, 2024, 10:33 amI thought we were the media darling in that we have all new players and that we have no returning players that scored a point last year. I'm just glad we aren't the trendy 11 or 12 seed upset pick. You know, because 12s beat 5s every year.

THIS! Be aggressive and confident. We always seem overwhelmed and scared in these games. They need to hit the floor with the mentality that we're going to kick their a*s tonight.OrangeCountyAggie wrote: ↑March 22nd, 2024, 10:50 amI'm just so tired of us playing timid. Having a phenomenal guard is frequently discussed as key in the NCAAs.
I believe Brown is the best point guard we have had. That said, I think the game hinges on Ian and Mason.

It is the crushing weight of 20+ years of tourney misery that's talking. We're like whipped dogs awaiting another beating. Just bracing for impact is all.

That's been the theme over the last two decades. We have a good season, do well in the tournament, and then look like we second guess ourselves. Aggies: Please harness whatever teams like Oakland, Duquesne, and SDSU have been able to tap into. Let's be winners today.

A number of experts have picked us over TCU (e.g. Jay Bilas).

Re: We need this win tonight so bad.
It would have been the "the shot" year but it was stolen from us. That would have been a 2+ win year. Just our luck the year for that to happen a once-in-a-century pandemic hits the week before the tournament. That was the only thing that could have stopped us and it happened. Just accept it. We're cursed. Just watch the game today and enjoy being amused at the next way it doesn't happen. Maybe we'll come out soft and dig a hole too big to climb out of, or maybe a meteor will strike the arena.Aggie formerly in Hawaii wrote: ↑March 22nd, 2024, 1:59 pmWhen will it be the year?sam tingey wrote: ↑March 22nd, 2024, 10:31 amWe won't be winning. Up 40 when a meteor strike happens isn’t one I’ve considered yet, would be peak Aggie fandom.
