Zach Edey is a beast

Post by NowhereLandAggie » March 22nd, 2024, 10:50 pm

It will take some good rotations and double team to slow him down.

The Boilmakers are beatable though. Wisconsin, who went down today, took them out in the Big 10 tournament.

The Big Fish will be needed along with some others.

They’re nasty but beatable. I’m glad we get a shot at them.

Push the ball and Edey can't keep up.

Edey can't win the game by himself. We have to have a good game out of Khalifa. From what I saw tonight I'd say that he's about as ready as he'll ever be.

I think Great could get him into foul trouble as well if he takes it off the dribble.

No, but winning the Naismith player of the year means he will be the Center of attention.

His ability to pass to players off a double team is going to cause problems.

Purdue is beatable though.

Great scores by using lateral speed. He doesn’t shoot up and over very often. Hopefully Edey’s height will not be as big a factor.

On misses, we need to attack Edey in transition before he is set. Get some fouls on him. Even try to be sneaky and dribble in front of him in transition and then stop and see if he runs you over. On picks and hedges, attack his hip. Pull out all the little black book tricks. When he is that big and dominant you do what you have to do.

I talked with some Wisconsin fans this week and they said “get Edey in foul trouble and you’re good”, couldn’t agree more. Get it done boys!

Just watched the condensed game. If we get the same refs, it's going to be hard to get him into foul trouble. They let a LOT of physical play go without a call. No complaints, just an observation that it shouldn't be our primary/only strategy.

I wonder if the Aggies will play a lot of zone against Purdue like they did tonight to try and limit getting the ball to Edey.. Edey is a beast and is going to get his 25 but you just have to try and limit the other players.

Odom did tell us at a luncheon once that he didn't think it was the trouble of trying to get someone in foul trouble. Not sure how Danny feels about it.

Early tip + Ramadan. Unfortunately, Sakho's going to be a bit limited.

I'm more concerned about Osobor getting tired.

Yes, but we're one of the top 3 pt defense teams in the country.

Which brings into question why does the NCAA accommodate ybu not playing on Sunday but they don’t make an effort to give teams with individuals who observe Ramadan a later tip if available?

I don’t think we will get calls on him once he is posting up or he’s not running. When he is moving is the time to attack him. I don’t think Sahko or Johnson try to go for blocks on him. Just play straight up and don’t get into foul trouble. Great may have the bulk to stop him from getting super deep touches. That would be ideal.
