Yep, you got me. I was playing the long game but finally, after 23,200 + posts you figured out I'm a troll.

Nothing I've said is wrong. Sprinkle will take his players with him and call the recruits he bagged on our dime and ask them to join him in Seattle.

If being angry that college sports is disintegrating before my eyes makes me a 'troll'. So be it.

I don’t always agree with Florida’s tone and word choice, but someone convince me his outlook for college sports is wrong? We caught lightning in a bottle this year, but the trend is undeniable as far as “mercenaries” and profits ruining college sports for good.

Yeah, at this point it looks like we're turning over coaches every couple of years until we get on that sucks and we fire them after 3-4 years. We really need to get one to stay long-term with consistent success. Not winning the conference every year, necessarily, but competing for it.

I haven't said anything that hasn't been said dozens of times here since we all found out UW was chasing Sprinkle. Only now, we are being told it is indeed a done deal.

Nothing he said is wrong, pessimistic maybe, but it’s not far off. This is heading to an inevitable separation of the haves and have nots. The “haves” will essentially be a glorified minor league football/basketball. The “have nots” where the entire MWC will fall will likely look more like the college athletics we all love. NIL and TV money is above all. Tradition be damned. Don’t get me wrong, in some ways I like that athletes can make money, but I refuse to donate until this is somewhat regulated. Every player is a free agent at all times, that’s ludicrous. If they are going to be professionals there has to be contracts and at least some rules. Either way USU will be able to compete, and I look forward to cheering them on.

Good grief. This is all such ridiculous hyperbole. Very very few players are worth more than a small amount of NIL money, and 99% of those players will never sign with USU in the first place. Inevitably we will lose a few players occasionally, but the idea that college sports is being destroyed and we will never have a good player for more than a year or two is stupid. Very little is going to change. The biggest change will be that players are no longer indentured servants forced to work for free while coaches and administrators get rich and forced to play for a new coach who didn't recruit them. And I think that is a very positive thing. If USU wins a few less games as a result, I'm fine with that. (And the irony is that we probably have the transfer portal to thank for our two most recent conference championships in revenue sports. If anything, the new model seems to be helping us more than it is hurting us.)

How can I refute something that hasn't happened yet? Sprinkle earned his salary this year that's irrefutable.
