Smith vs Odom
Tonight at 7pm, it's Craig Smith (along with former Aggie Rollie Worster) against Ryan Odom (along with former Aggies Shulga, Bairstow, and Conner). Any predictions or preferences on who wins?

I've been a VCU fan as long as I've been an Aggie fan so I have double reasons not to want Utah to win.

Re: Smith vs Odom
When I first saw this, I just assumed it would be Odom—the guy who isn't at the U. Thinking about it, however, I prefer Smith over Odom. But also I'd like to see other D1 teams in Utah put in their place, so go Rams. I guess.YouTossedEight wrote: ↑March 27th, 2024, 10:33 amTonight at 7pm, it's Craig Smith (along with former Aggie Rollie Worster) against Ryan Odom (along with former Aggies Shulga, Bairstow, and Conner). I can't tell if I'm more apathetic about this matchup because I don't care about how our former coaches do, or if I'm apathetic because it is the NIT.

VCU. I still like Odom. The U can rot.

Re: Smith vs Odom
I believe that Worster is injured. (Maybe from throwing a football 80 yards?)
If VCU wins and goes to the final destination (wherever that is), Utah media will not be covering it in detail.
If Utah wins, Utah media will be highlighting the accomplishment.
Go Rams!!

Re: Smith vs Odom
I prefer VCU as I'd like to see Bairstow and Shulga get the W over Utah and Smith. Much less of a factor, but also a small part of my reasoning is that I hold no ill will toward Odom but think Smith is lame for selling out to the Utes (he could have gone to literally any other program and I would have held no ill will), and hope to see our in-state "rivals" fail as much as possible.
Wouldn't it be hilarious if the Hurd showed up en masse (as in, with a way larger turnout than the U of U student section) to cheer for Bairstow and Shulga?

Re: Smith vs Odom
For Bairstow and Shulga, who were originally recruited by Smith, it would be pretty sweet for them to beat him. Smith didnt thunk that they were not good enough for Smith to bring them with him, hopefully the each score 25.Rabidchild wrote: ↑March 27th, 2024, 10:58 amI prefer VCU as I'd like to see Bairstow and Shulga get the W over Utah and Smith. That will never happen, but it would be awesome if Wasatch Front Aggies turned out to cheer for VCU.Rabidchild wrote: ↑March 27th, 2024, 10:58 amWouldn't it be hilarious if the Hurd showed up en masse (as in, with a way larger turnout than the U of U student section) to cheer for Bairstow and Shulga?

VCU, and definitely would be funny to see more Aggies there than utes as they can't even fill the lower bowl on a good night.

Just had the same thought. If you buy more than 8 tickets then they are $10 each. Send 15 members of the Hurd down tonight and get some Utah State chants going.Rabidchild wrote: Wouldn't it be hilarious if the Hurd showed up en masse (as in, with a way larger turnout than the U of U student section) to cheer for Bairstow and Shulga?

Re: Smith vs Odom
Many similar chants and the VCU almuni are usually pretty loud - more like NM fans. They can guide the Hurd with the right words and turn them loose.usufan1 wrote: ↑March 27th, 2024, 11:06 amJust had the same thought. If you buy more than 8 tickets then they are $10 each. Woah, woah woah. 15 sold tickets might overwhelm the ticket takers at the Huntsman Center.usufan1 wrote: ↑March 27th, 2024, 11:06 amJust had the same thought. It is a home game for Smith, and they have been really good at home. But, I hope Shulga and Bairstow can get the win.

Re: Smith vs Odom
USU fans attending the game should proudly sport their USU gear and strategically position themselves near the Utah bench while cheering for VCU, especially Bairstow and Shulga. As it becomes evident that VCU will secure the victory, USU fans need to do the winning team/losing team chant. Once the game is over USU fans should congratulate Shulga and Bairstow and completely ignore Odom and staff. Act like they're not even there or that they don't even know who they are.

My preference would be for fire to rain down from heaven and consume them both. That, or a sandstorm that lasts for a year... In lieu of that, I have to go with VCU. They're 3/4 of a continent away, and largely irrelevant to USU. Anything that lowers the standing of the U is a good thing.
