Bowling green best player in portal
Hard to tell why a player is leaving.
1) Could be leaving because he really likes Simon and knows Simon is on the way out
2) Because he doesn’t like Simon and will consider staying if Simon leaves
3) Is testing the waters to see how much $$$$ major programs will offer
4) or several other reasons….
Would be a major key piece in building a roster if he indeed wants to stay with Simon though

I'm all for bringing in talent. I will say, he's a guard that shoots less than 29% from 3 and less than 45% from the floor. He also has a 1:1 turnover to assist ratio. It's hard to project if a high volume low efficiency guy can play on a winning team.

I know many of these NIL "agents" recommend to enter the transfer portal every year, even if they have no intention of leaving. All about getting your school to pay up.AGGIEinIOWA wrote: ↑March 27th, 2024, 6:57 pmHard to tell why a player is leaving.

I didn’t look that close at his numbers. I wouldn’t want to build a team around a player like that. I’ve enjoyed our recent success (under all 3 previous coaches) where sharing the rock and having fairly well balanced scoring was valued. Sam shot a lot but he shot a high percentage and made all the other players better.FalseStart wrote:I'm all for bringing in talent. How many times have you seen Hill play? He's got significant upside to help. I understand the misgivings some have.

This. You watch how hard he has to work to score, and then imagine what he could do with better talent around him. Definitely worth an offer.Attorney General wrote: ↑March 28th, 2024, 5:01 amHow many times have you seen Hill play? He's got significant upside to help. I understand the misgivings some have.

Re: Bowling green best player in portal
You can tell he’s an inefficient volume scorer from his stat line. Maybe that’s because he was the only real option on a bad team?
EDIT: looks like he was pretty much the same dude in JC.

well when you put it that way I don't think I want this guy.FalseStart wrote: ↑March 27th, 2024, 7:17 pmI'm all for bringing in talent. Players are entering the portal because it sounds like their coach is coming to USU.

Re: Bowling green best player in portal
The timing matches this. I was thinking this very thing after the top 2 players hit the portal.Roy McAvoy wrote: ↑March 28th, 2024, 11:09 amPlayers are entering the portal because it sounds like their coach is coming to USU.
