I guess my only counter is that he isn't taking over a losing program. He is taking over a powerhouse that isn't just wanting to win but compete at the national level in the tournament. He hasn't done any of that. He may have good recruiting ties and whatnot but what has he done with them?

Well, so far has he has turned two bad programs into winning programs. Hopefully he can continue to win if he takes over a winning program.

My cynical thought is that Goodman is also friends with Kowalczyk's agent and is trying to help him get a raise at Toledo. It sure seemed to work well for Sprinkle. But who knows what is going on? I would be very happy with either Simon or Kowalczyk, so I'm not worried either way.

I am "whelmed." I was about a 6/10 in terms of excitement on every candidate mentioned. I like Simon as a potential long-term fit better than Hill and TK. My concern with him is constructing a competitive roster for next year. I hope he has one or two helpful players follow him from BGSU and can convince at least three current USU rotation players to stay.

EDIT: just saw that TK has regained the lead, which is also fine. I am a 6/10 on him as well.

That would honestly be great - and I would be an even bigger fan of Sabau if anything like this was the case.

I would be okay with either of these coaches - but I definitely prefer Simon.

I was as well. I like that he was younger and most importantly coached/recruited in Utah/west which i think is huge key/advantage. Tod is still a really solid candidate just thought Todd longer term was better.

Toledo does have 2 really good incoming freshman, one was offered by Iowa State

Boring hire the banishes us to the same mediocrity as Toledo. The dude is 3 years way from retirement, has zero energy to push a program beyond where is ever been. No ties to the west. No recruiting power. THIS IS A TERRIBLE HIRE. And it’s because sabua is a bad AD that went with a coach from her hometown. She is going to run this university into the mud. It’s already started.
