If he can keep us in the top 3 of the conference most years, those'll be really good teams. I think a lot people are bummed because we were shooting for a Brian Dutcher/SDSU type of success... not a Leon Rice at Boise type of success. In my opinion, this hire seems more likely to put us on the Leon path.

But we gotta give the man a chance. He obviously knows how to win, and a top of the conference Mountain West team is much better (and more equipped to win in March), than a top of the conference MAC team.

This level of consistent winning is very encouraging and impressive.

But a bunch of regular season championships is not the standard at Utah State anymore. What happens in March is what matters most. Hopefully with more resources and a better conference he’ll elevate to a new level himself. But I’m concerned by the complete absence of postseason success. 0 NCAA tournament appearances. 0 NIT wins.

Similar finishes in the regular season would put us in the tourney every year in the MWC. Some if the lack of appearances has more to do with the league.

Most years if USU finishes in the top 2-3 in the regular season in the MWC there will be a good chance they will be in the NCAAT. Be interesting to see how Tod does in the MWC and if he can keep the momentum going that we have had for the past 6 years.

What is his philosophy on playing non-conference games against teams with hats in the mall?

I'm a reasonable man, get off my case.

Be interesting to see how aggressive he is in OOC scheduling and how it will differ being at USU in the west instead of the upper midwest. I actually liked his most recent OOC schedule this last year.

Two quad 1 neutral court games and a few Q2 games. Certainly can improve but was no worse than what the Aggies played this last year. In non conference the Aggies played one Q1 and two Q2 games.
