I think some players are losing touch with reality. There is a lot of money in college athletics, as evidenced by TV contracts and AD budgets, but that isn't where NIL comes from.Roy McAvoy wrote: ↑April 13th, 2024, 6:01 pmlol. Like I was saying…

600k Zimbabwean is what he had to have meant. Much much closer to actual value.

He watched Ashworth get $400k & think he’s better than Ashworth.Zaggie07 wrote: ↑April 13th, 2024, 6:20 pmI think some players are losing touch with reality. Re: Potential Portal Point Guards
They have completely lost touch with reality. 600k for 35ish games , that that is a more per game average than a league minimum NBA contract. These player have lost their minds. I am all for NIL within reason but this would be way overkill.Zaggie07 wrote: ↑April 13th, 2024, 6:20 pmI think some players are losing touch with reality. A former byu basketball player really close to the Ashworth family that lives near them in Alpine is the one who told me $400k.bigblue32 wrote: ↑April 13th, 2024, 6:45 pmI swear ashworth got paid $100,000 more every time it’s referencedRoy McAvoy wrote: ↑April 13th, 2024, 6:36 pmHe watched Ashworth get $400k & think he’s better than Ashworth.Zaggie07 wrote: ↑April 13th, 2024, 6:20 pmI think some players are losing touch with reality. Most NIL #'s are BS. They count a car lease for the full value of the car. They include housing, insurance, utilities every little thing into the number and even then divide by 2 and subtract 50-100k and that's how much actual cash they get.

LMAO! 600k for 9pts/game. Count me out. I wouldn't give him 60k.

Re: Potential Portal Point Guards
I had always heard $400k from the start but a couple of months ago some people on here started saying $200k. I have no idea where that figure came from. I assumed people had just misremembered the actual number.bigblue32 wrote: ↑April 13th, 2024, 6:45 pmI swear ashworth got paid $100,000 more every time it’s referencedRoy McAvoy wrote: ↑April 13th, 2024, 6:36 pmHe watched Ashworth get $400k & think he’s better than Ashworth.Zaggie07 wrote: ↑April 13th, 2024, 6:20 pmI think some players are losing touch with reality. Re: Potential Portal Point Guards
Let's keep in mind that is the price he requested to keep him at BYU. I agree with him; you'd have to pay WAY over market value for me to be at all involved with that school.

true. Perhaps he's giving them the "I don't want to be here" premium price.

Re: Potential Portal Point Guards
Our realistic portal prospects are:
(1) low major stars looking for a modest pay day and a chance to prove they can compete at a higher level (see everyone that came with Odom and Sprinkle, Stetson guys and Queens guy we are tied to);
(2) back half of rotation guys dropping down from P5s looking for a bigger role (see Martinez and Johnson).
No one we would want at BYU fits either of these archetypes. They are either not good enough or way outside our price range.
Give me a guy killing it at Stetson or Queens that’s thrilled with the $100k or whatever NIL offer we can make that has a chip on his shoulder to some Provo Princess expecting $600k.

Dang. Liked him. Hope this means we’ve landed someone we preferred (Albury?) and not that we got out NILed by UCSB.

Santa Barbara is amazing. I can see a kid going there for his last year for that alone.

Yeah that’s a good idea in theory, but their basketball program has no money and no fan support. They’re never very good, despite a good and well respected coach.MalAgua wrote: ↑April 13th, 2024, 9:03 pmHave you ever spent a weekend in Isla Vista? One of the coaches at Weber State that tried to get Dallin Hall was Eric Daniels.
