But it isn't $200K, right? Isn't that just to be considered?hipsterdoofus21 wrote: ↑April 18th, 2024, 10:45 pmIt does suck to know we can’t afford 200k.ineptimusprime wrote: ↑April 18th, 2024, 10:43 pmAm I the only one that thinks Ian is probably worth the $200k in NIL money he’s asking for?
Like that ask doesn’t seem crazy to me for a player of his caliber in a universe where Dallin Hall wants $600k and Steven Ashworth is getting $400k. Ian is a better player than either of those two.

I have heard it was NEAR 200k, likely over it factoring in other perks, but the "ask" was 250k plus perks.ereksonaggie wrote: ↑April 19th, 2024, 11:52 amBut it isn't $200K, right? Current State of USU Basketball
This is what I was thinking. Everyone was clamoring for Max to come back but he only shot 15% from 3 on over 3 attempts per game. I think Phelps could do better than that and still fill the long defensive wing role. He’s got a high ceiling and worth some investment.Zaggie07 wrote:Sounds like Phelps can just slide into Max's role.aggies22 wrote: ↑April 19th, 2024, 10:44 amDesperately needs to improve his outside shooting.AGGIEinIOWA wrote: ↑April 19th, 2024, 10:25 amWhat are the expectations for Phelps? He’s an athletic and physically impressive 6’6” off guard/wing. Apparently he is a very good defender, a good slasher, gets to the foul line, but is a little unknown in regard to outside shooting. Anyone heard anything from how he did in practice or on scout team last year? I was hoping he’d step into a nice little support role this year and provide some good minutes. He’s got the physical tools for sure. We were really excited about his athleticism when we signed him. He’s also the son of a coach and had well rounded stat line in high school.

What keeps a collective from promising compensation and then claiming the money ran out down the road?

Lol an incoming freshman's commitment could be more impactful than the MW Player of the Year's?OrangeCountyAggie wrote: ↑April 19th, 2024, 11:37 amAny word yet on Wynott @aggies22? His commitment might be more impact full than Great's.
I guess he theoretically *could* be the next Steph Curry and also willing to stick around at Utah State for four years and lead us to multiple national titles. But let's pump the damn brakes here for a second.

Yes it could be. The hope, whether realistic or not, would be that Wynott would be here for his collegiate career. There is a ton of unknown like with any recruit but the hope for Wynott is that he can become an Aggie legend the likes of Sam Merrill.shoresy wrote: ↑April 19th, 2024, 12:41 pmLol an incoming freshman's commitment could be more impactful than the MW Player of the Year's?OrangeCountyAggie wrote: ↑April 19th, 2024, 11:37 amAny word yet on Wynott @aggies22? Re: Current State of USU Basketball
So a kid who originally committed to us, but is now de-committed, and is listed as "minor chance" he comes, is expected by some on here to stay all four years? I would definitely error on the side of classifying that as not realistic.

Agreed. He's young and still a little raw so he'd be okay getting bench minutes for year and then starting next year.MetsJetsAggies wrote: ↑April 19th, 2024, 3:54 pmDynes feels like the perfect fit. I agree, moneyballing with grad seniors, the occasional returner we hang onto with NIL and rolling out a new team every year. It can work. I would still recruit high school players that are local. By that I mean anyone within a 300 mile radius. Also, any legacy kids should also be recruited. There is a chance those type of kids will hang around just like Johnson and Faslev.

Re: Current State of USU Basketball
I still think it makes sense to recruit high school kids in the state of Utah that can contribute. That is especially true if they're already fans of the program. Other than that I don't see a lot of value and going after high school recruits at our program. The thing with Wynott is he had his chance to be here he's the one that decided to open up his recruitment.

Don’t know who this guy is or if he is at all reliable but if this true, it’s a bad look and one we have to fix like yesterday. Can’t be not fulfilling promises. That will kill your whole program in a hurry (which makes me think there’s more to the story but perception is everything).

Agreed. Although I'm not all that upset about cutting Wynott loose. I was not that high on him to begin with and I'll be shocked if he ends up making any immediate impact at either of those schools (if they indeed sign him). I could see him doing well at a WAC or Big West school in a couple of years from now and maybe finding his way to a higher level after that.Section_L_Aggie wrote: ↑April 19th, 2024, 7:03 pmThat’s too bad.
