I’m not sure if it’s legit, but some claiming that Burns doesn’t have any eligibility left despite being in the portal.Aggie84025 wrote:WIth Welling not coming getting Burns would be a really great pickup. Yeah I understand that. Just posting what some other folks are claiming. Could be that this guy is getting confused with the NC State DJ Burns. Re: Current State of USU Basketball
I’m curious what about his post game you don’t think would translate. He’s 6 9 and physical and has some decent post moves.Aglicious wrote: ↑May 3rd, 2024, 11:14 amAre you being facetious? He literally has one of the slowest wind up shooting motions I have ever seen. The final flick of the ball from his hands is short but the long wind up and setting of his feet together is painfully slow. He also shoots from his belly and chest with a weird two foot hop forward. I have already voiced by opinion on Burns but I will repeat: I don't think he would be very effective at the MWC level. He's a below the rim type of player and is not going to be given 8 feet of clear room from the arc to get that slow developing shot off. I think there is reason that Calhoun did not immediately try and pull him over from YSU. It's interesting to compare the programs in his initial "interest" list to his update list.Madmartigan wrote: ↑May 3rd, 2024, 10:51 amIs it just me or does Burns have one of the fastest releases you've seen? 32.3% from 3 for a 6'9 guy is decent. Dipped to the University of Utah with our legendary dual sport athlete and won't even come back to Logan to play us but will come to CV to recruit. Sincere question here: why in the hell should he schedule Utah State? Honestly. In a world of college basketball where power conference team simply don't play road games, why would he want to play not just a road game, but a road game against a very tough opponent who has extra motivation to beat him? And if you're mad about coaches taking players with them when they leave a job, I have some bad news for you.

Primarily because that is what college sports should be about. Play games that are interesting to the fans. However, an equally important reason is for him to prove to everyone that he has testicles. I won't believe he does until I see him schedule USU. He is going to get fired anyway, so he might as well schedule the game.

I guess it's an unpopular opinion, but I 100% understand why he hasn't scheduled USU and frankly don't blame him for it even a little bit.

I was being sarcastic about Worster. Logan is only a little over an hour away and he plays BYU so why not schedule a home and home with us? BYU is a tough road game and also has extra motivation to beat him.
Honestly, I don't blame Craig for leaving and I wouldn't want to play us in Logan either.
Are you related to Craig?

It was one if the longest running instate rivalries going. That’s why he should have kept brought it back. It would only help their SOS. I know we didn’t play Weber state this year and if it was because we are big-timing them then I’m pissed about that as well and we have no room to talk.shoresy wrote:That's what college sports *should be about* but they have come a long, long way from that.ususports wrote: ↑May 7th, 2024, 11:18 amPrimarily because that is what college sports should be about.

Re: Current State of USU Basketball
Even if you abandon the instate rivalry thing, USU is consistently a tourney team + a Q1 game. Utah should schedule us if for no other reason than we are a quality team and basketball program within driving distance. It would give them a chance to add a Q1 win to their NIT resume. I'd imagine a game with USU would draw more interest to the normally morgue like Hunstman than any other OOC team not named BYU.FeartheFro wrote: ↑May 7th, 2024, 11:51 amIt was one if the longest running instate rivalries going.
