What’s the deal with Austin Hansen? He was Smiths assistant coach and has stuck around in the valley. Is he an option for an assistant coaching position?

I wouldn't count on it.
Disinterest from him, from USU, or from the new coaching staff?

Good for Hill
Assistant coach in the MVC will help his chances to be a Midwest Big Ten assistant coach (possibly Purdue)

Nope. He has a new gig. It's just not for me to disclose where.
Did he have a spot here and choose this other opportunity or did he not have a spot here at USU
That I'm not 100% sure on yet. I would say his move is a step up in perception and a step down in level of play.
This is a relatively new Twitter account that claims to have inside info/utah connections. He's saying Haslam headed to Oregon State, which would meet the "step up in perception and step down in level of play" comment

Speaking of the flow, going from Sprinkle to Tinkle as your head coach? You can't make that up either. Let the potty humor fly.

If Great likes getting his gas pumped for him instead of having to get out and pump it himself, there's nothing we can do about it.

Is Oregon State a more desirable place to play than USU?

Org St has the coach they like, but anything else?

relatively new?
profile says "since April 2024"
first post says "16 hours ago" (which at this point would be 2am MDT) and says "locked out of old account"
who was the old account?

Who knows if Great follows Haslam to OSU but their are a lot better options than OSU for your last year of college ball.

Who knows if Great follows Haslam to OSU but their are a lot better options than OSU for your last year of college ball.
I would be shocked if Great ended up at Oregon State.

OSU is chewing away OSU's chances at Osobor.

We need Haslam. Is there even a chance of that??

Isn’t good for our hopes of keeping Great and Uduje….
I don't think this makes one bit of difference with those two. They've known for a while that Haslam is not going to be in Logan next year and yet they are still here. Are both guys really so tied to an assistant coach that they are willing to leave their teammates to follow him to an unknown situation for 1 year?

If they leave it will be for 1 reason...$$$. Not an assistant coach.

That move DOES meet that criteria doesn't it. So that would mean you didn't hear it there first.
Oregon State playing in the WCC next year can't be considered a step up in perception. It is certainly a step down in level of play.

Will be interesting to see how this plays out. I’m not super crazy, at least on paper, about basically porting over a bunch of staff from YSU to Logan, but that seems to be the path these things usually take. While the Calhoun hire grew on me, what YSU accomplished wasn’t impressive enough to me to just bring everyone over, nor do they have exciting players to bring with. I’ll reserve judgment, but on paper the list of assistants is underwhelming.

Anyone have any insight as to why Eric Brown was retained over Haslam and Johnny Hill?

My uneducated guess is it has to due with Brown having more experience with the MWC and the west coast in general. Calhoun mentioned that as something he was looking for in a coach.

That would make sense. I forget he coached at UNM and UNLV right before coaching here.
